Description

Since 1979, the company has built and serviced communication networks across North America, tailoring solutions to each client's requirements.

This is a site technical lead role for submarine network operations, reporting to the Supervisor, Cable Stations. You stay hands-on in maintenance, commissioning and restoration work.

You give advanced, specialized technical support on SLTE, DWDM, PFE, DCN, fronthaul, BMH, OGB and related optical systems. You lead complex troubleshooting and restoration, and guide technicians toward safe, approved methods through coaching and quality review.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and restore complex faults on submarine transmission equipment and related infrastructure, including SLTE, DWDM, PFE, DCN, fronthaul, BMH, OGB and optical test systems.
  • Serve as the point of contact for technical escalation with the customer NOC, regional operations and OEMs.
  • Carry out and check approved MOPs, maintenance plans and changes.
  • Assess operational risk, confirm prerequisites and support maintenance windows. Make sure technical closeout and as-built records are accurate.
  • Perform or oversee complex optical testing, fault location, circuit turn-up, hardware remediation, configuration checks, installation and commissioning.
  • Give daily technical direction, coaching and competency support to hybrid technicians.
  • Enforce the customer training matrix, safe-work rules and approved operating procedures.
  • Review recurring incidents, alarms and performance trends.
  • Support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, reliability improvements, spares and calibration controls, audit readiness and escalation of critical incidents.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years in optical transport, telecom network operations or submarine cable systems, including hands-on fault isolation and restoration.
  • Proven work with SLTE and/or DWDM systems, OTDR and optical power testing, MOP-governed work and live-network changes.
  • Experience directing or coaching technicians and coordinating with NOCs, OEMs and specialist vendors.
  • Strong skills in optical transmission, fiber testing, loss analysis, patching, circuit turn-up and physical-layer troubleshooting.
  • Working understanding of submarine cable station architecture, including PFE, OGB, BMH, fronthaul, DCN and common equipment.
  • Ability to judge risk, review MOPs and run structured troubleshooting during high-severity incidents.
  • Thorough documentation: tickets, test results, redlines, root-cause input and corrective actions.
  • Must pass customer-required screening, keep access eligibility and complete role-specific training.

Conditions

Work in secure cable landing stations, data halls, equipment rooms, offices and outside plant, including controlled-access areas with energized equipment, noise, temperature swings and coastal weather.

Physical demands include regular walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs or ladders, and handling tools, test equipment and hardware.

Occasional travel may be needed for training, certification or support at other customer locations.

Applicants must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

The company welcomes applications from qualified people of all backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, veteran status or any other identifying characteristic.

Benefits

  • A competitive total rewards package covering pay and benefits that support physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
  • Opportunities to build your skills and knowledge.
