Description

This senior individual contributor sits in the Secure Product Engineering pillar of the company's Product Cybersecurity organization.

You will work side by side with product engineering teams during the build phase, helping software and systems get implemented securely.

The work covers embedded vehicle software, mobile experiences, and other software and services, with tooling and patterns meant to scale across the portfolio.

The role is hands-on and execution-focused. You gain influence through technical credibility, collaboration, and mentoring, not through managing people.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute hands-on across secure software and systems engineering, moving work forward through direct execution and by shaping engineers' decisions.
  • Design, build, and grow secure engineering services and capabilities for the company's products.
  • Embed with product engineering teams to help implement security and contribute code directly.
  • Build out and improve SAST, DAST, fuzzing, runtime security, and OS hardening across core codebases.
  • Write technical guidance, reusable patterns, and guardrails, then help teams adopt them in product environments.
  • Carry out deep secure code reviews, and work with adjacent teams to refine tooling and bring security requirements into engineering work.
  • Mentor engineers across the pillar, setting a high technical bar through example and pair work.

Requirements

  • You have 4+ years of cybersecurity experience in application security, product security, or a similar role.
  • You have shown technical leadership and influence in security or engineering roles, moving initiatives forward without formal authority, mentoring others, and shaping technical direction.
  • You bring strong application security and secure software engineering skills and can give practical technical guidance.
  • You have hands-on experience with SAST, DAST, fuzzing, code review, and secure SDLC practices across different platforms.
  • You can read and write code in several programming languages and build your own tooling to support the team.
  • You work closely with engineering teams and improve security without adding unnecessary friction.
  • You take high ownership, work hands-on, have strong product instincts, and keep a pragmatic approach to security.
  • You give internal teams security support that holds up technically and treat them as customers.
  • You have the technical depth to give clear guidance, mentor well, and plan thoughtfully.
  • You can juggle several complex priorities, using clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
  • You favor scalable improvements that make Secure Product Engineering stronger over time.
  • Preferred: prior experience in the automotive industry or another complex, deadline-driven, regulated field.
  • Preferred: published cybersecurity research, such as conference talks, blog posts, or code repositories.
  • Preferred: familiarity with embedded software and OS security, mobile applications, and backend development.
  • Preferred: you have built custom security tooling or extended tools in related technologies before.

Conditions

The role is hybrid: you report to a specific location at least 3 times a week, or as often as your manager sets.

The company does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role, now or in the future, so candidates who will need it should not apply. This covers direct sponsorship, naming the company as employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company, such as H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1.

Applicants may be asked to complete a role-related assessment and/or a pre-employment screening before starting.

The company is committed to an inclusive workplace and equal employment opportunity.
