Description

The company makes memory and storage products that help turn data into intelligence.

The role sits in the data center SSD product management team within the company's core data center business unit.

As a technical product manager, you help define and drive the technical development of next-generation data center SSDs.

You work as an individual contributor under a senior TPM who leads the product line, owning requirements for an assigned product, feature area or customer program.

Target segments include OEM servers and storage, public cloud and GPU providers, federal and government, and Fortune 500 cloud.

You work with engineering, operations, media architecture and customers.

The role suits an engineer or product professional who wants to get closer to customers and product definition.

You need either deep expertise in one SSD domain or working knowledge across several, and you become the trusted technical contact for your area with both internal engineers and customer technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the customer's view on product teams for your assigned product, feature set or program, following the plan set by the product line lead.
  • Write and maintain customer-driven requirements documents, and contribute to launch materials, technical marketing content and datasheets.
  • Compare product requirements with customer needs, run spec gap and competitive analysis, and recommend how to close gaps.
  • Work with engineering daily to evaluate issues, define solutions, and make trade-off decisions in your area.
  • Track current and emerging SSD features and market trends, and judge which ones suit the company based on business viability, technical feasibility and customer workloads.
  • Build technical relationships with customer engineers, using targeted questions to learn their requirements, workloads and pain points, and feed the findings into product planning.
  • Prepare and present your area's content at concept reviews, design reviews and technical stage gate reviews.
  • Support quarterly technical reviews and other engagements with OEMs, hyperscalers and industry partners.
  • Make sure data center SSD needs in your area are included in the product life-cycle management planning process.
  • Keep product data accurate in the company's databases and requirements management tools.
  • Run small projects end to end, such as a feature definition, a competitive analysis or a customer technical issue.
  • Help customer technical teams resolve their technical issues.
  • Share knowledge with less experienced colleagues and build cross-domain expertise through new assignments.
  • Use LLM-based and agentic AI tools to speed up requirements analysis, documentation and cross-program comparison, such as automated requirements comparison and validation, and turn manual work into reusable processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Advanced knowledge of one storage-related domain, or working knowledge of several, such as NVMe, NAND, ASIC, DRAM, networking, firmware, software, validation, servers, GPUs and QoS.
  • Experience writing or contributing to requirements, specifications or test plans that turn customer or system needs into defined features.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfort working through ambiguity within a direction set by others.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complex technical information to colleagues, managers and customer engineers.
  • Curiosity about how current product needs shape future requirements, and interest in growing into broader product strategy.
  • Working business acumen, including how cost, schedule and market timing affect product decisions.
  • Experience working across multiple locations and organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • A BS or BA in engineering or a technical field, plus 3+ years combined of engineering, product development, applications or customer-facing experience in storage and/or semiconductors. An MS or PhD in a relevant field may offset part of the experience requirement.
  • Solid state drive and/or hard disk drive experience is required.
  • An interest in storage and in how SSDs will shape the future is required.
  • Preferred: customer-facing technical experience with OEM, hyperscale or enterprise storage customers.
  • Preferred: familiarity with data center SSD specifications such as NVMe, PCIe and the OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD specification.
  • Preferred: exposure to SSD product development stage gates, qualification or product life-cycle management processes.
