Principal Systems Engineer (AHT)

Description

The team in Huntsville, AL, works on several software and network products within a long-running Tactical Ground Equipment program for counter-unmanned aerial systems, the Base Operations Networks effort.

The role is a Principal Engineer, Systems position at a defense systems business unit of the company, with the team supporting, integrating, developing and advancing these products.

The role requires a Secret clearance to start.

Responsibilities

• Write and keep up test plans, procedures and test cases for the systems and subsystems you are assigned.
• Run system, integration and regression tests, by hand, automatically, or both.
• Review test results, track down faults, and work with development, systems and QA staff to close defects.
• Record test evidence and take part in formal reviews, audits and customer witness events.
• Help verify requirements by tracing each one to its test cases.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks where they apply.
• Help set up test environments, covering hardware, software, tools, data and configurations.
• Help improve test processes, tools and metrics over time.

Requirements

• Basic: a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of experience, or a master's degree in a STEM field and 3 years of experience.
• Basic: an active DoD Secret clearance.
• Basic: a solid grasp of test engineering principles, including verification versus validation, coverage, boundary conditions and negative testing.
• Basic: experience designing test cases with methods such as equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis and use cases.
• Basic: experience with test automation and at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python or Bash.
• Basic: the ability to read and interpret requirements, interface control documents (ICDs) and design specifications.
• Basic: familiarity with configuration management and version control, such as Git.
• Basic: experience with API, UI, performance or security testing, as the work requires.
• Preferred: experience with Linux.
• Preferred: skill in writing or running SQL queries for data analysis or database management.
• Preferred: prior work on embedded systems, avionics or defense systems.
• Preferred: familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
• Preferred: knowledge of Agile development processes.

Conditions

The role is based in Huntsville, AL.

Travel is required for 25% of the time.

The base salary range is $108,800.00 to $163,200.00. The actual offer depends on factors such as the scope of the role, your experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, you may be eligible for overtime, a shift differential and a discretionary bonus on top of base pay.
