Description

The company builds and sustains systems for the US Air Force, including ICBM ground and airborne launch control systems, launch facilities and related infrastructure.

The role is a Staff Systems Engineer (level 5) on the Sentinel program, based in Roy, Utah, with the Defense Systems group.

You will sit within the Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration and Test business unit, as a contributing member of the System Integration and Sustainment enterprise integration team.

The team acts as system integrator for systems-of-systems interoperability and joint integration, working with customer counterparts and other stakeholders across the enterprise. It assesses external interfaces and mission threads across the weapon system.

The work is fast-moving and centred on people. You will need to grasp weapon system integration at the highest level, drive engineering analyses to confirm design integration, and find gaps.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration work for systems-of-systems, including integration test planning, identifying problems and reporting them, running integration events, and coordinating with stakeholders so communication stays clear and efficient.
  • Show leadership through integrity, respect, organisation and communication.
  • Write key systems engineering artefacts, such as requirement specifications and interface definition documents.
  • Coordinate SEIT work with other integration teams.
  • Take part in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk decisions, and requirements analysis for integrated systems.
  • Identify risks and opportunities that come from design, systems or analysis factors.
  • Work and communicate with cross-functional teams and all collaborators.
  • Guide and mentor teams through project execution.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, a positive attitude and the highest ethical standards.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university, plus 12 years of experience with a bachelor's in science, 10 years with a master's, or 8 years with a PhD.
  • US citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation dated within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
  • 10 years of Agile work, including cross-functional Scrum teams.
  • 10 years of experience in Product Owner and Product Manager responsibilities.
  • 4 years of experience with ICBM systems (MMIII or Sentinel) or complex aerospace or defense systems.
  • 2 years of experience on large, complex system development across preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell-off, and transition to production.
  • 2 years of experience with systems engineering milestone events such as PDR and CDR.
  • 2 years of working with external customers to meet program expectations on time and efficiently.
  • 2 years supporting DoD contracts, or managing a large supplier portfolio in other industries.
  • You can lead teams with diversity and inclusion in mind, through high engagement, mentoring and coaching.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and a record of leading engineering teams.
  • Preferred: strong grasp of complex engineering systems, such as engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities and software, for complex systems-of-systems.
  • Preferred: strong written and oral communication, including high-value customer presentations, and handling several projects with competing priorities.
  • Preferred: experience managing Risks, Issues and Opportunities.
  • Preferred: Teamcenter or CPLM experience.
  • Preferred: continuous process improvement experience.
  • Preferred: Agile experience.
  • Preferred: experience creating, updating and maintaining Model-Based Systems Engineering products.
  • Preferred: experience working with several functional groups, subcontractors and government customer representatives.
