Senior Platform Engineer

Description

The company has been producing clean energy for over a century and brings 125 years of experience to the work. This role sits in the Application and Platform team within IT Infrastructure Operations, which runs and improves critical business applications and the platforms beneath them.

You will work with experienced infrastructure engineers, software developers and system managers to keep application and platform services reliable, secure and scalable. The team values collaboration, trust and ongoing learning. You report to the Manager of Application and Platform in Infrastructure Operations.

Responsibilities

• Run, maintain and keep improving the platforms and infrastructure behind business-critical applications.
• Work across Azure, Kubernetes, High Performance Computing (HPC), on-premise and hybrid cloud environments, depending on your expertise.
• Keep application and platform services available, performant, scalable and secure.
• Lead improvements, automation and modernization using Infrastructure-as-Code, AI and sound engineering practice.
• Partner with software developers, infrastructure engineers, security specialists and business stakeholders in cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in platform or application engineering and operations.
• Strong working knowledge of Azure cloud.
• Solid grasp of operating models and operational excellence.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Cloud-related certifications are an advantage.
• Scripting and automation skills are an advantage.
• Experience in the energy or financial industries is an advantage.
