Description

The company builds complex aerospace systems, and this aeronautics systems role sits within its systems engineering group.

The work centres on model based systems engineering: requirements, architecture definition and interfaces for a complex aerospace system, using Cameo across the full program lifecycle.

You will work under general direction and apply broad systems engineering and MBSE knowledge to keep the system models current and useful for project leadership.

The role is based in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage requirements in Cameo, including decomposition, allocation and traceability from customer and stakeholder needs down to system, segment and subsystem levels.
  • Create and maintain operational, functional and physical architectures in SysML, using use case, activity, sequence, block definition and internal block diagrams.
  • Bring requirements, behaviors, interfaces and constraints together into one consistent model that supports mission analysis, design, and verification and validation planning.
  • Follow existing modeling conventions and suggest changes that make the model more consistent and easier to use.
  • Coordinate requirement and architecture changes with multidisciplinary teams such as mission systems, avionics, ground systems, communications and vehicle teams.
  • Produce model based views and reports for technical reviews such as SRR, PDR and CDR, showing requirements coverage and architecture status.
  • Work with requirements and configuration management to baseline the Cameo model and keep it aligned with DOORS/DOORS Next.
  • Advise and informally mentor engineers who contribute to the model on MBSE and Cameo use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus at least 5 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field plus at least 3 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a PhD plus at least 1 year of relevant military, professional or academic experience.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance or higher, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or current enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Systems engineering experience, with emphasis on requirements development, decomposition and architecture definition for complex systems.
  • Direct hands-on use of Cameo/MagicDraw, or an equivalent MBSE tool, for SysML modeling at the system or subsystem level.
  • Experience delivering technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems that fit organizational goals.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting mission planning or ground systems, including defining operational concepts, workflows or interfaces between air vehicle and ground mission systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with air vehicle or mission system requirements, such as performance, avionics, mission or integration requirements, captured in an MBSE/Cameo model.
  • Preferred: Exposure to mission systems and communications architectures, such as data links, networks and interfaces between onboard systems, ground segments and external assets.
  • Preferred: Experience using MBSE/SysML to represent mission threads or operational scenarios spanning vehicle, mission systems and ground systems.
  • Preferred: Experience connecting Cameo models to requirements tools such as DOORS/DOORS Next, or producing basic traceability and coverage reports.
  • Preferred: Prior experience supporting design reviews with model based artifacts on defense or aerospace programs.

Conditions

You must hold an active Top Secret clearance type to start.

Travel is about 10% of the time.

Base salary range is $98,400.00 to $147,600.00; the range is a general guide, and final offers depend on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
