The company is a young startup building clean, high-temperature nuclear power for industry, hydrogen, and advanced manufacturing, with a focus on systems that are quick to deploy and factory-made.
Its first pilot plant is in Orangeville, Utah. Before its third anniversary, the company had designed, built, commissioned, and operated a DOE-authorized research reactor outside the national laboratory system.
The Instrumentation & Controls team, part of Engineering, designs the control systems that monitor, automate, and protect the company's facilities and reactors, with reliable control architectures that support safe, efficient operation.
Responsibilities
Take on the department's hardest technical problems and work hands-on across its disciplines when needed.
Lead technical investigations of serious failures and complex integration problems that span physical, software, network, and data dependencies.
Test explanations against incomplete or conflicting evidence, identify the supported cause, and confirm the recovery.
Step into implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or recovery work wherever the department needs technical cover.
Develop and review architectures, detailed designs, standards, and acceptance methods for demanding systems and interfaces.
Close technical gaps between disciplines, bringing in specialists when more depth is needed.
Convert difficult failures and field lessons into better designs, usable procedures, and knowledge the team can apply.
Handle escalations and verification procedures alongside design and standards work, with the aim of improving the systems and supporting the people who build and run them.
OT Engineering covers power and rack infrastructure, compute, networks, identity, physical and cyber security, operational data, and industrial software platforms such as FactoryTalk. For FactoryTalk, the scope is backend deployment, configuration, integration, and recovery. PLC programming and controls-code development are outside this role.
Requirements
Broad practical capability across power and rack infrastructure, compute, storage, and virtualization, networking, industrial backends and data, Windows domains and access control, centralized services, cybersecurity, and log and packet analysis.
Deep hands-on expertise in several disciplines, shown by resolving difficult cross-system failures, evaluating incomplete evidence, and verifying recovery when standard procedures fall short.
Experience authoring and validating designs, standards, requirements, procedures, and acceptance criteria, with sound engineering judgment.
Experience leading technical work on complex integration, commissioning, or recovery, and keeping technical records that others can use.
Broad coverage across the department is preferred over deep specialization.
Highly organized, with disciplined task tracking, accurate documentation, clear priorities, and reliable follow-through.
Wide technical knowledge, and the judgment to notice what you don't know and bring in the right expertise.
Persistent problem solving that links symptoms across systems, tests competing explanations, and confirms the fix.
Ability to switch between urgent hands-on work and sustained design work, leaving systems and documentation that others can maintain.
Preferred: experience building reusable architectures or technical standards across multiple facilities or programs.
Preferred: experience turning lessons from major incidents into tested recovery practices adopted by multiple teams.
Preferred: deep expertise in additional disciplines or product families beyond the required breadth.
