Description

Relocation assistance may be available for this role.

You need an active Secret clearance to start, investigated within the last 5 years.

Travel is required, about 50% of the time.

The company builds and deploys JTAGS ground processing systems worldwide. These systems receive, process and pass on Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensor data to give timely warnings and cueing in support of the theater missile-warning mission.

The JTAGS-P3I (Pre-Planned Product Improvement) program is based in Colorado Springs, CO. It runs four detachments in Italy, Qatar, South Korea and Japan.

The team is looking for Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) Specialists to work as Field Engineers within the program. The role centres on deploying to operational sites to give on-site technical support.

The JTAGS system spans satellite downlink antennas and tracking gear, networking infrastructure and client workstations. Its core computers run Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so you will need a solid grasp of Linux administration, including network setup, software upgrades, remote management and troubleshooting.

You will sometimes represent the company and the JTAGS program at forward locations.

The role is varied and moderately complex. You will support fielded sites both from the JTAGS Support Facility in Colorado and on-site, answering most customer questions and fixing most issues in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair and modify all parts of the JTAGS system.
  • Carry out a range of maintenance and technical support on equipment, integrated systems, subsystems and software at field locations.
  • Give real-time hardware and software support to the warfighter across the JTAGS system at customer and field sites.
  • Train customer support staff on site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience. Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, or Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 12 years of experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, investigated within the last 5 years.
  • Active DoD 8570 IA Workforce Improvement Program IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND or SSC).
  • Systems administration experience, ideally on RHEL.
  • Strong background in Linux and RHEL.
  • Experience with Windows OS.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly and accurately diagnose and fix complex issues.
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting and operating SATCOM antennas.
  • Working knowledge of data processing hardware.
  • Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of standard mechanical tools.
  • Ability to work on site in Colorado Springs, with about 50% international travel.
  • Familiarity with any of: JTAGS, Air Defense, Space Brigade missile warning, missile warning systems, CRAM or similar systems.
  • Comfortable with physical work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work on your own with little direction and no supervision, and to handle a high-pressure, fast-moving setting.
  • Highly motivated, with a strong work ethic.
