Description

The company runs a B2B platform that brings finance, risk and sustainability work onto one secure base.

You will shape the visual direction of its enterprise design system, which supplies components, patterns, templates, accessibility standards and shared experiences.

This is a dual-focus principal role: about 60-70% of your time goes to the system's visual direction, and 30-40% to high-visibility visual work for conferences, marketing partnerships and executive audiences.

That visible work belongs to the same design ecosystem as the system, not apart from it.

You bring top-level visual craft, systems thinking and a clear view of how design systems must change for AI-assisted design and prototyping.

Responsibilities

  • Set and develop the visual language: typography, color, spacing, iconography, motion and brand expression.
  • Build and maintain a semantic token structure that stays consistent across products over time.
  • Create and upkeep a library of reference designs, full-screen examples that show the system applied in real product screens.
  • Write visual usage guidance that makes intended use, limits and quality standards clear to designers, engineers and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Assess AI-generated designs and prototypes on an ongoing basis, then refine tokens, examples and guidance before problems reach product teams.
  • Work with the components team and the patterns and templates team so visual design is applied consistently and deliberately to every asset.
  • Work with product design, product management and engineering so product decisions carry accurately from system to production.
  • Lead visual design for key moments: major conferences, executive presentations, product vision work and marketing partnerships.
  • Coach designers and guide cross-functional partners through precise feedback, clear principles and strong visual storytelling.

Requirements

  • Minimum: 10+ years in product design, visual design, UX or a related field, including substantial work on platform or enterprise products.
  • Minimum: a Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI or a related field, or 8 years of experience plus a Master's degree, or a PhD plus 6 years of experience.
  • Preferred: a portfolio showing exceptional visual craft and the ability to turn a visual point of view into scalable product systems.
  • Preferred: hands-on work with AI-assisted design or prototyping, and a clear view of what it offers and where it falls short.
  • Preferred: experience defining or evolving a design system's visual language, including tokens, components, patterns and documentation.
  • Preferred: experience with semantic or multi-tier token systems, motion design, presentation design or event experiences.
  • Preferred: a strong ability to build compelling product stories for senior leaders and high-visibility audiences.
  • Preferred: experience working closely with engineers on the tradeoffs between design intent, system health and implementation.
  • Preferred: a record of influencing and coaching teams without relying on formal authority.
  • Preferred: experience building reference sites, design-system documentation or machine-readable design guidance.
  • Preferred: background in front-end development, developer tools, cross-platform systems or highly regulated industries.
