Description

The company's defense systems group is hiring a Principal Embedded Software Engineer for its Flight and GN&C (guidance, navigation and control) software team in Roy, Utah.

The role supports the Sentinel Program and centres on embedded software for flight systems.

Responsibilities

• You will design and build embedded software applications for flight systems.
• You will work with teams across disciplines to ship software that is high quality, scalable and dependable.

Requirements

• For the T3 Principal Embedded Software Engineer level, you need a bachelor's in a STEM field plus at least 5 years of related experience, a master's in STEM plus 3 years, or a PhD in STEM plus 1 year.
• You must hold an active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance when you apply, and it must be current and within scope.
• You must be able to obtain and keep Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a timeframe the company considers reasonable for its business needs.
• You need at least 2 years of writing software in C, C++, Python, Java or a similar language.
• You need at least 2 years with object-oriented programming and design patterns, hardware/software communication interfaces, and real-time and post-processing data analytics.
• You need at least 2 years across the full software life cycle and in Agile development.
• You need hands-on experience with the Atlassian tool suite.
• You need experience with model-based systems engineering using Cameo.
• Preferred: experience developing real-time software for weapon systems.
• Preferred: ability to gather information from several sources, form clear plans and carry them out.
• Preferred: familiarity with secure coding standards and static and dynamic scanning tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity and PCLint.
• Preferred: programming and scripting in a UNIX environment (C++, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, Shell).
• Preferred: programming and scripting in a Windows environment.
• Preferred: building and maintaining software through CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred: working with source code configuration management tools such as git.
• Preferred: automating regression testing of software products.
• Preferred: experience with GreenHills or VxWorks.
• Preferred: a previous Special Access clearance.
• Preferred: experience with Sentinel software.

Conditions

Travel is about 10% of the time.

The position is based in Roy, Utah.

The primary-level salary range is $98,400.00 to $147,600.00, which is a general guide.

Final base pay depends on the role's scope and responsibilities, your experience, education and skills, and current market conditions.
