Principal / Sr. Principal Cloud & DevSecOps Engineer – Azure/AWS (TS/SCI)

Description

The team builds and scales secure cloud platforms that support advanced intelligence work for the U.S. Air Force at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC).

The role is based at Wright-Patterson AFB and centres on designing, building and automating AWS and Azure environments with infrastructure as code and DevSecOps methods.

The role leads technical design and automation work, directly supporting mission-critical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Create secure AWS and Azure landing zones and shared services that serve NASIC workloads.
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, OpenTofu and Ansible, and build Git-based CI/CD pipelines with GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or cloud-native tools.
• Enforce least-privilege access, central logging, auditing and automated backups across cloud environments.
• Work with cyber, networking and application teams to meet DoD STIG and RMF requirements.
• Coach other engineers and help them adopt DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience for the Principal Cloud Engineer level (Level 3), or a master's degree with 3 years of experience.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8 years of relevant experience for the Sr. Principal Cloud Engineer level (Level 4), or a master's degree with 6 years of experience.
• Hold an active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) access.
• Hold an active CompTIA Security+, SecurityX or CISSP certification.
• Have at least 3 years of experience in DevOps, software development or systems administration.
• Have at least 1 year of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Preferred: Know Azure services well, such as VNET, VM, Entra, MDE, AVD and AKS.
• Preferred: Know AWS services well, such as VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, ECR and EKS.
• Preferred: Have experience with Linux and core cloud services, including virtual machines, storage and networking.
• Preferred: Have experience with OCI-compliant container tools such as Docker or Podman.
• Preferred: Have experience with Kubernetes platforms such as EKS or AKS.
• Preferred: Have strong experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu or Ansible.
• Preferred: Have strong experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or cloud-native pipelines.
• Preferred: Have experience with Python, Bash or Go to automate work and improve cloud efficiency.
• Preferred: Have experience with security as code, including automated vulnerability scanning and compliance-driven infrastructure for DoD STIGs and RMF.
• Preferred: Have experience working in Agile teams and knowledge of Agile principles and practices.
• Preferred: Have experience with Jira and Confluence for project and issue tracking.
• Preferred: Have experience with distributed version control such as Git.

Conditions

Active TS/SCI clearance is required before the start date.

Travel is expected at about 10% of the time.

The role may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications the candidate has.

The Primary Level base salary range is $103,600.00 to $155,400.00.

The Secondary Level base salary range is $129,300.00 to $193,900.00.

The salary range is a general guideline. The company considers the scope of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, and current market conditions when setting base pay.
