Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer–Java (TS/SCI-CI Poly) (AHT)

Description

The team supports the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where the company builds and maintains mission-critical software.

NASIC produces all-source intelligence on present and future air, air defense, cyber, space and ballistic missile threats, which informs military operations, force modernization and policy.

You will join a team of software, systems, network and storage engineers that works across multiple networks and environments.

The role suits someone who communicates clearly, solves problems and works with both internal and external stakeholders.

This position may be filled at level 2 or level 3, depending on your qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and maintain Java applications that support NASIC mission systems.
• Add new features and improve existing capabilities with current Java frameworks and tools.
• Find and fix software defects and performance problems in development, test and operational environments.
• Write and keep up technical documentation and test procedures.

Requirements

• Level 2: a bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 2 years of software development experience, or a master's degree in a STEM field.
• Level 3: a bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 5 years of software development experience, or a master's degree in a STEM field plus 3 years of experience.
• An active Department of Defense Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
• An active Counter-Intelligence (CI) polygraph.
• At least two years of Java development experience, with frameworks such as core Java, JEE, Spring or similar.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to work inside a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and follow all applicable security and handling rules.
• Clear written and spoken communication, and the ability to work well in a collaborative team made up of several disciplines.
• Preferred: experience connecting Java applications with RESTful services, message queues and/or microservices architectures.
• Preferred: experience with other programming or scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Preferred: experience with security compliance, secure coding practices and security scanning tools.

A Top Secret clearance is required to start.

Travel is expected at about 10% of the time.

Primary level base salary range: $83,400.00 to $125,200.00.

Secondary level base salary range: $103,600.00 to $155,400.00.

The ranges are a general guide. Final base pay depends on factors such as the scope of the role and the candidate's experience, education, skills and the current market.
