Principal DevOps Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

Description

This is a Principal DevOps Engineer role in Manhattan Beach, CA, on a team of the company's defense systems group that builds mission planning software.

The team builds modern mission planning systems and needs someone to shape how their software is built, tested and shipped.

The role requires an active clearance before start. The posting lists the clearance type as Secret, while the qualifications call for an active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines so critical business software reaches production quickly and with fewer bugs.
• Set up development, test and build environments for the team.
• Work with other team members to get a product ready for delivery.
• Create and update Windows installers.
• Install, test and verify software products.
• Maintain several baseline repositories.
• Help team members resolve build and installation problems.
• Define and put in place version control processes, policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Hold a BS or higher degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), or a related field, from an ABET accredited university, or have 5+ years of DevOps engineering or software build management experience, or 3 years of experience plus a master's degree in a related discipline.
• Hold an active DoD Top Secret clearance, adjudicated within the last 5 years.
• Hold clearance to the highest level of ATDC SAP.
• Show proven experience applying DevOps engineering principles.
• Understand and have worked with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) practices.
• Have used and managed Bamboo or Jenkins.
• Have scripting experience in one or more of: yaml, Python, PowerShell, Curl, Unix.
• Have experience with at least one object-oriented language: C, Java or C++.
• Have working knowledge of one or more of: GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, Ansible, VisualBuild, InstallShield, Wix.
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Windows-based applications.
• Preferred: Experience with InstallShield and Visual Build Pro specifically.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile and Scrum.
• Preferred: Software testing experience.
• Preferred: Proficiency in one or more of C,.NET Framework, Java, C/C++.
• Preferred: Expert-level Windows and Linux administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning, plus proven automation and coding experience.
• Preferred: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: Experience with containerization using Docker or Podman.
• Preferred: A record of making process improvements, streamlining work and finding efficiencies.
• Preferred: Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Preferred: An active or current DoD Top Secret clearance, adjudicated within the last 5 years.

Conditions

Work is performed on-site in Manhattan Beach, CA, and you must be able to work there on-site.

The base salary range is $114,000.00 to $171,000.00. This is a general guideline, and the actual offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
