Presales Systems Engineer - Summer 2027 Internship

Description

The company builds and connects communications technology for public safety, including networks, applications, real-time information tools and rugged handheld radios used by first responders.

The Presales Engineering Group supports the sales organization with technical work on radio communication solutions, from early concept through to implementation.

As the summer 2027 presales systems engineering intern, you will work alongside communication systems engineers who design radio solutions, and you will learn from senior engineers who mentor junior staff and help build technical and professional skills.

The role is an internship with the company, a company that builds and connects communications technology for public safety.

Responsibilities

• Work with sales, product development and project management to draft technical strategies and write customer proposals that present the company's solution.
• Help design customer solutions and give technical support throughout the presales stage.
• Contribute to coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, system architecture design, equipment selection, proposal writing and presenting proposed solutions to customers.
• Help carry out solutions as they were originally designed.
• Own all technical aspects of an assigned project from award until system acceptance.
• Contribute to implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing and system staging.
• Keep sales staff and customers informed about the company's latest technology and how it fits customer needs.

Requirements

• A high school diploma is required.
• You are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree and expect to graduate on or after December 2027, returning to school in fall 2027.
• You must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely. Employer work permit sponsorship is not offered for this role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.
• You are self-motivated and can stay focused under pressure.
• Customer-facing experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of or experience with radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave and/or networking is a plus.
• Knowledge of communications networks such as MPLS, Ethernet and TCP/IP is a plus.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA and/or Amateur Radio (HAM) are a plus.

Conditions

Full-time internship, Monday to Friday, hybrid.

Candidates living in San Diego, CA or Allen, TX are preferred.

No travel is required.

Relocation is provided.
