PostgreSQL DBA

Description

The company is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager trading in all liquid asset classes worldwide, and it takes a technology- and data-driven, scientific approach to investing.

The Database Engineering team keeps database services secure, reliable and scalable. You will support database operations and turn business requirements into workable database solutions, with PostgreSQL as the main focus.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and secure PostgreSQL databases in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Monitor database health, investigate faults and improve performance and availability.
• Maintain and test backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures.
• Contribute to database design, high availability, capacity planning and upgrades.
• Manage database access and permissions to meet security requirements.
• Work with engineers and business users to clarify data needs and resolve database issues.
• Automate routine administration tasks and keep operational documentation clear and current.

Requirements

• At least five years of production PostgreSQL administration experience in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of database monitoring, performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience writing and maintaining database solutions with SQL and database procedural languages.
• Experience managing database security, access controls and permissions.
• Scripting and automation skills with tools such as Python, Shell, PowerShell or Ansible.
• Familiarity with other database platforms such as SQL Server, ClickHouse or Snowflake.
• A structured, proactive approach to troubleshooting, testing and documentation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with close attention to detail.
