Penetration Tester - Cyber Engineer

The team is made up of engineers from varied backgrounds who work on hard, multi-disciplinary problems in several fields.

The role centres on hands-on work with current electronics and new technical topics.

The position is fully on site at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Responsibilities

• As a junior penetration tester, you will assess and analyse complex systems in depth.
• You will use penetration testing and threat-hunting methods to find weaknesses.
• You will work hands-on with the latest electronic technology.

Requirements

• Hold an active Secret clearance, with the potential to obtain TS/SCI.
• Have a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Have professional experience in penetration testing or threat hunting.
• Have a proven record of grey box and black box penetration testing.
• Understand OWASP Top 10, DoD, NSA, or industry-standard vulnerability and penetration testing standards.
• Be proficient with common penetration testing tools such as nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite, Nessus, and similar utilities.
• Have extensive knowledge of Linux.
• Have expertise in exploitation techniques such as buffer overflows, fuzzing, SQL injection, man-in-the-middle attacks, covert channels, secure tunneling, XSS, privilege escalation, and lateral movement.
• Have a strong grasp of networking, TCP/IP, virtualization, and web services.
• Be able to work with electronic hardware, including taking devices apart and identifying their components.
• Have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of exploitation experience.
• Desired: Hold an active TS/SCI clearance.
• Desired: Hold certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, GPEN, GWAPT, GXPN, CEH, or CISSP.
• Desired: Have experience in malware analysis or digital computer forensics.
• Desired: Script in Bash, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
• Desired: Have systems programming experience.
• Desired: Have a strong interest in emerging penetration testing technologies and techniques.
• Desired: Be familiar with Android operating systems.
• Desired: Have knowledge of UAS/UXS technologies.
• Desired: Understand radios and radio protocols.
• Desired: Have experience analysing embedded devices.
• Desired: Build and present proof-of-concepts that demonstrate exploitation techniques.

Conditions

Full-time position, 100% on site at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Travel of up to 25% within the continental US.

Minimum Secret clearance required to start.

The proposed salary range is $90,300 to $189,600 USD.

Final pay depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.
