Description

The company builds an AI-driven tax automation platform that lets software businesses sell globally without taking on compliance work.

As the digital economy has grown sixfold over the past decade, software businesses have moved from ignoring sales tax to tracking exposure, calculating rates, and filing returns across more than 20 US states and many countries. That burden slows companies that should be selling to customers everywhere.

The platform connects to billing and payment systems and automates tax monitoring, calculation, and filing from start to finish. It covers the constantly shifting tax rules at municipal, state, and federal levels, so companies can focus on growing rather than on compliance.

Customers include 40% of the Forbes Top 50 AI companies, 20% of the Forbes Top 100 Cloud companies, and well-known firms such as Notion, Anthropic, and Cursor. The company has raised over $50M from investors including Sequoia, Index, and Khosla Ventures.

The team is hiring a Partner Solutions Engineer to own the technical side of the partner ecosystem. Because the company sits downstream of every billing, payments, and ERP system its customers use, partners are how most customers discover it and how they get tax right. This role strengthens those integrations, helps partners position the product accurately on their own, and opens new partnerships.

The role is early-stage in its partner work, so there is real room to shape it. You will be the technical face of the company to partner engineering and product teams. You will need a solid grasp of the API, the quote-to-cash workflows partners run, and enough sales tax and VAT knowledge to hold your own with a partner's CTO. You will also advise Account Executives on which partner to involve in a deal and when, and tell Product what the ecosystem needs next.

Responsibilities

  • Build lasting technical relationships with integration partners, including billing platforms, payment processors, ERPs, and the accounting and consulting firms that implement them. Be the named technical contact their engineers reach out to.
  • Run technical enablement for partners through deep-dives, architecture reviews, demo environments, sample code, and reference implementations, so they can scope and position the product themselves.
  • Improve existing integrations by teaching partners the product's strengths and the real tax edge cases. Move integrations from working to excellent.
  • Shape and launch embedded partnerships where a partner offers the company's tax capabilities inside its own product. Define the technical design, make the internal case with Product and Engineering, and oversee launch.
  • Own the technical lifecycle of prebuilt integrations, building and maintaining them where that makes sense and working with Engineering to scale the ones that need it.
  • Teach Sales which partner to bring into a deal, at what stage, and for which technical problem. Build repeatable internal enablement rather than relying on individual knowledge.
  • Find and assess new partner opportunities, including those that generate leads. Make the business case for new connectors and integrations, and say plainly which ones are not worth building.
  • Represent the partner ecosystem to Product and Engineering, turning feedback from many partner conversations into clear roadmap input.
  • Travel occasionally for partner onsites and industry events.
  • This is not partner account management or a support queue for partner tickets. The work is leverage: build technical credibility and reusable assets so partners can sell, integrate, and support the product without you in every conversation.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years in solutions engineering, partner engineering, solutions architecture, or a similar technical role facing partners or customers.
  • Extensive hands-on work with REST APIs, webhooks, and integration architecture. You can read a partner's API documentation and identify where tax logic belongs.
  • Experience with technology partners, ISVs, or platform ecosystems, including co-solutioning, joint architecture, or technical enablement at scale.
  • You are comfortable working with a partner's VP of Engineering as well as their sales team and the company's AEs.
  • You create lasting work such as documentation, demos, reference architectures, and internal enablement. Strong written communication is required.
  • You can lead a cross-functional initiative and win support from leaders who do not report to you.
  • Familiarity with quote-to-cash, billing platforms (Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly, Zuora, NetSuite), or indirect tax is a strong plus. Genuine curiosity about these areas is required.

Conditions

Partner travel is expected for onsites and industry events.

The company is in an early stage of building its partner program.
