Description

This is a senior leadership role in the Finance Operating Model and Artificial Intelligence (OM&AI) organization, covering governance and oversight of the group's portfolio.

You will set up, run, and keep in place strong portfolio governance: investment stage-gates, milestone tracking, and transparent reporting to executives across digital, automation, and AI initiatives.

The role sits where business strategy, technology delivery, and risk control meet, and gives central oversight across the full transformation lifecycle. You will run the Proof of Concept (PoC) approval process end to end, review investment requests and business cases, maintain portfolio tracking in the company's enterprise program management tool, and automate executive dashboards and scorecards for senior leaders. The work demands deep project and portfolio management knowledge, investment governance skills, and structured change management that prepares the organization for change and keeps delivery ready for audit.

Responsibilities

  • Define, standardize, and enforce portfolio governance frameworks, gating criteria, and control mechanisms for all Finance OM&AI transformation and AI initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate the full PoC approval process, covering rigorous evaluation, architecture alignment, risk review, and stage-gate sign-off before any scaling.
  • Run cross-functional review forums that judge whether initiatives remain viable, whether milestones are met, and whether a PoC is ready to move into production.
  • Manage intake, review, prioritization, and tracking of investment requests and business cases across Finance OM&AI programs.
  • Confirm funding alignment, test business case assumptions, and verify return on investment and measurable benefits throughout each project lifecycle.
  • Oversee portfolio tracking, milestone administration, and project data accuracy in the company's Project Management Tracking System so records stay complete and audit-ready.
  • Design, automate, and maintain executive dashboards, KPI scorecards, and Management Information Systems (MIS) that show portfolio health, delivery status, budget use, and risks in real time.
  • Prepare and present governance packs, steering committee decks, and executive briefings for senior leadership and operating committees.
  • Give senior stakeholders clear, usable insights that support data-driven decisions and quick removal of delivery blockers.
  • Build structured change management frameworks that prepare the organization for new digital tools and operating models, drive business adoption, and manage transitions.
  • Work closely with Finance leaders, technology partners, risk and control officers, and Agile delivery teams to align goals and share accountability.
  • Spot, track, escalate, and resolve cross-program risks, issues, dependencies (RAID), and governance bottlenecks across parallel workstreams.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, with close attention to the firm's reputation and to protecting the company, its clients, and its assets.
  • Make sure work complies with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies, use sound ethical judgment, and escalate control issues fully.
  • Supervise team activity and hold people accountable for keeping enterprise controls and governance standards.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in portfolio governance, project management, PMO, or business management within financial services.
  • Hands-on experience using and managing portfolio data, milestones, and reporting in enterprise program management tools or enterprise PPM platforms.
  • A proven record running PoC stage-gate processes, investment request workflows, and quantitative business case reviews.
  • Strong skill in building executive dashboards, KPI scorecards, and detailed reporting packs for senior leaders.
  • Proven experience applying structured change management methods to complex digital, technology, or operating model transformations.
  • Working knowledge of project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and enterprise governance lifecycles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex portfolio data, risk factors, and control activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage, influence, and present to senior executives.
  • Ability to juggle many initiatives and competing priorities against tight deadlines, working with high autonomy and close attention to detail.
  • Advanced skill in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and dashboarding or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • A bachelor's degree or university qualification, or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: a master's degree (MBA, MS in Finance, Information Systems, or a related field).
  • Preferred: prior experience supporting Finance, AI (including ML), Generative AI, or digital transformation work at a major bank or financial institution.
  • Preferred: relevant certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or Prosci (change management), or equivalent portfolio management credentials.
  • Preferred: familiarity with the company's Manager's Control Assessment (MCA) framework, risk shift-left practices, and enterprise data governance standards.
