Description

The role oversees contracted vendors who design, install, test and document the backbone communications infrastructure at the resort. That infrastructure serves the attractions, back-of-house areas and non-attraction front-of-house areas.

The connected systems in scope include physical connectivity for rides and shows, for audio-visual and lighting, and for campus security (building management, cameras and fire alarm). They also include installation, physical connectivity and security for wired and wireless networks.

The role leads the design and planning for the data center and other critical environments, with both current and future needs in mind.

The company runs theme park destinations and produces film and television content. It is owned by a larger media corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the work vendors carry out and act as the link between Parks Engineering, Technical Services, the audio-visual team, RSN and the UPT group, so that the infrastructure they build can be supported and maintained by each of them.
  • Run acceptance testing and verify certifications against the standards that apply to each connected system in a project.
  • Prepare construction plans for refurbishments and new builds using UPT standards, Creative OPS requirements and local building code.
  • Keep scheduling and budget inputs up to date through every phase of a project.
  • Work with vendors and partners to cut costs through lower unit prices, bulk buying or simpler methods.
  • Build working relationships across the organisation and improve business acumen and processes to keep availability high, using proven business technology.
  • Work with teams outside UPT to review designs across projects, making sure security, growth, safety, redundancy, reliability and sustainability are built in and weighted properly in the design goals.
  • Follow the company's environmental, health and safety policy, procedures and training, and take part in team safety activities.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
  • You have technical leadership experience in infrastructure or data center operations.
  • You have strong knowledge of telecom and structured cabling design standards and systems.
  • You have managed mid to large facility design and build-outs, ideally on campus-style sites or corporate headquarters or branch locations.
  • You have designed cable management and fiber distribution standards and systems.
  • You have installed equipment in line with electrical codes and grounding rules, and you can project utilisation, spikes and ranges.
  • You have planned and installed racks, cable management, copper and fiber optic cabling for data centers or other critical environments.
  • You lead well, work independently and also work within a larger infrastructure team.
  • You have working knowledge of compute and networking devices and their deployment.
  • You have strong working knowledge of MEP standards and operations, and you can calculate BTU and heat load.
  • You are analytical and organised, with close attention to detail.
  • You know industry standards well and can develop strategic infrastructure solutions for enterprise users.
  • You understand the principles and practices of earthing and grounding, and you can test and verify earthing.
  • You communicate professionally and build good relationships with others.
  • You are an exceptional project manager, analytical and organised, with close attention to detail.
  • You are advanced in MS Office, including PowerPoint and Visio, and you use Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
