The company is hiring a flight software developer to support NASA's Orion team at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Orion is NASA's crewed spacecraft being built to carry astronauts to the Moon, where it will dock in lunar orbit with a lander that moves crew to and from the surface.

The role covers implementing, testing, integrating and verifying Orion flight software.

The team works on human spaceflight and exploration, and the work takes place at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

  • Find software defects, then write and test code changes that fix them.
  • Diagnose software problems.
  • Integrate software and build flight software loads for testing.
  • Follow JSC standard software process practices.
  • Review C and C++ code to catch logic errors.
  • Work with NASA and prime contractor subject matter experts to resolve flight software issues.
  • Build software tools and scripts when needed.

  • Strong C++ programming skills.
  • Experience with software unit testing and integration testing.
  • Flexibility and openness to new challenges in a changing environment, with strong technical skills and clear verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage several priorities with little supervision.
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong coordination and organization skills.
  • Desired: Master's degree (M.S.) in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer or software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Desired: Experience running integrated simulations to test real-time safety-critical software. Experience testing flight software with SOCRRATES is highly desired.
  • Desired: Flight software development experience on human-rated space vehicles such as Space Shuttle, International Space Station, SpaceX Crew Dragon, Boeing Starliner, Orion or Gateway.
  • Desired: Software troubleshooting experience.
  • Desired: Experience with Google Test and gMock.
  • Desired: Experience across the full life cycle of real-time safety-critical aerospace vehicle software.
  • Desired: Familiarity with NASA Spacecraft Software Engineering Team (SSET) standards and processes for Class A safety-critical flight software.
