Mid-Level Python Developer (Backend)

Description

The company builds high-concurrency backend systems for its client projects.

The role covers building, maintaining and tuning these systems, with you owning features from design through to deployment.

The team relies on modern async Python, strict type safety and AI-assisted workflows to ship resilient code quickly.

Responsibilities

• Own backend features from schema design and API endpoints through to production deployment.
• Build clean, well-tested async Python services, for example with FastAPI, and apply current type-safety practices.
• Connect backend services to PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy or SQLModel, caching layers and asynchronous message queues.
• Use AI-assisted tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot to prototype, write boilerplate, extend test coverage and debug.
• Write thorough automated tests, improve query performance and keep features reliable in production.
• Work with cross-functional squads and client teams to refine technical specs, review code and release work in iterations.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Python 3.11+ skills, including asyncio, typing and REST frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including efficient SQL and ORM queries and data modelling.
• Proven habits in automated testing with pytest, code quality, structured logging and git-based workflows.
• Experience shipping code to production, working with Docker containers and understanding basic deployment processes.
• Professional English and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to teammates.
• Experience with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor, or openness to adopting them in your daily work.
• Knowledge of integrating AI or LLM components into backend workflows, such as LangChain or vector databases.
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka, or key-value stores such as Redis.
• Familiarity with modern package managers, linters and formatters such as uv, Poetry or Ruff.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP or Azure and with CI/CD pipelines.
• German language skills at B2 level or above.
