MFG Test Development Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end test architecture and software automation for next-generation server and storage systems, working across Design Engineering, Operations and Quality.
• Turn complex hardware designs into reliable, scalable manufacturing test solutions from early NPI through full production, with your code and test strategies improving reliability, yield and global delivery.
• Plan and run functional test strategies from PCBA (L6) to system level (L10) across every NPI stage, aiming for broad manufacturing test coverage and higher production efficiency.
• Build and ship standardized, high-performance manufacturing test software and automation frameworks, working with Test Infrastructure engineers to equip hardware test stations and production racks.
• Lead root-cause debugging of complex hardware failures, and build high-availability databases that capture and analyze high-volume manufacturing telemetry to drive ongoing quality gains.
• Write clear, production-grade test requirements, validation reports, work instructions and troubleshooting guides that help global contract manufacturing teams and keep product lifecycle handoffs smooth.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of PCBA (L6) and system-level (L10) manufacturing test and functional test (FCT) development for enterprise server or storage architectures.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python or an equivalent language, including writing automated test scripts and scaling backend databases for manufacturing telemetry.
• A record of rapid prototyping, turning unclear technical requirements into production-grade applications, and driving hardware root-cause analysis using lab instrumentation.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership and technical writing, with a clear ability to get Design Engineering, Quality and Operations teams aligned on quality standards.

Conditions

The role is primarily in-office at the Santa Clara office, following company policies, except during PTO, work travel or other approved leave.

Salary ranges depend on role, level and location. For roles open in several locations, the base range reflects the labor market across those locations.

The role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

The annual base salary range is $170,000 to $255,000 USD.
