Description

The company is an incubation firm that builds and invests in quickly scaling, technology-driven businesses in healthcare, cyber, and national security, bringing major advances to market.

The new startup is building a platform that helps regulated organizations, such as healthcare providers and government bodies, turn internal knowledge into assets that make AI more accurate, reliable, and useful in daily work. Customers can build, measure, and keep improving AI capabilities that they own and control.

The team includes builders, researchers, and operators who move quickly.

This is a Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer (Full Stack) role focused on turning AI research into production systems and building the scalable infrastructure for model training, evaluation, and data collection.

The role is remote and open to people based in the United States. It suits an experienced engineer who works across the full stack and is especially strong in backend systems, platform architecture, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and grow the reinforcement learning environments platform and the infrastructure behind large-scale data collection.
  • Build and run scalable backend services, APIs, and pipelines that generate data.
  • Create modular environment domains that plug directly into model training and evaluation.
  • Turn research prototypes into dependable production systems.
  • Develop full-stack tools and interfaces for research, engineering, and operations work.
  • Engineer systems for reliability, observability, performance, maintainability, and security.
  • Build and maintain data models, storage systems, and platform integrations.
  • Refine platform architecture and engineering practices to speed up developers and raise system quality.
  • Work with Research, Product, Engineering, and Operations to set technical requirements and move a shared roadmap forward.
  • Take part in technical design discussions and contribute judgment on architecture and system design.
  • Track down complex system problems and drive them to resolution.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and help set a high bar for engineering quality.

Requirements

  • Experienced full-stack engineer with deep backend and platform architecture skills.
  • Enjoy turning complicated research needs into scalable, dependable software.
  • Comfortable moving between architecture, data models, backend services, infrastructure, and user-facing applications.
  • Weigh immediate product needs against long-term platform impact when making engineering choices.
  • Work well with shifting requirements and bring structure to problems that are not clearly defined.
  • Treat reliability, observability, maintainability, and performance as core concerns from the start.
  • Make practical technical decisions without lowering system quality.
  • Explain decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies clearly.
  • Work well across research, product, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Show initiative, sound technical judgment, and ownership of outcomes.
  • Motivated by the purpose and real-world impact of the work, not just by new technology.
  • 6+ years of professional experience building full-stack applications, backend systems, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure.
  • Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern backend architecture.
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, distributed systems, and system design.
  • Hands-on experience building and operating production systems on AWS or GCP.
  • Experience building reliable, observable, and performant production systems.
  • Ability to turn research or product requirements into maintainable architectures and implementations.
  • Preferred: experience with model training, model evaluation, reinforcement learning environments, AI agents, or data-generation systems.
  • Solid practice in software engineering, including testing, code review, technical documentation, and production operations.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex issues across the stack.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams across functions and geographies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
