Description

The company is the team behind the PlayStation brand, a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. It builds hardware and network services used by more than 100 million people and creates entertainment built on some of the best-known intellectual properties in the world.

The Marketing Technologies Director leads the global marketing technology organization for PlayStation. That covers engineering, product management, UX, measurement and experimentation, audience activation, and marketing data. The role sets technology vision, architecture, product strategy, and roadmap for platforms that marketers worldwide use to reach hundreds of millions of players, with a focus on secure, scalable, AI-enabled capabilities that make marketing more effective, faster, and better for customers.

The company is looking for a technology leader with hands-on software or data engineering experience building marketing technology products and platforms. You will lead engineers and technical product teams, make architecture and build-versus-buy calls, and turn marketing needs into lasting systems. Experience that is limited to administering vendors or running a marketing technology stack without direct engineering work does not meet the requirements of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across marketing technology engineering, product management, and UX, setting clear goals, operating rhythms, and delivery accountability.
  • Own global marketing platforms from discovery and architecture through launch, adoption, reliability, and ongoing improvement.
  • Set the architecture for marketing platforms, APIs, data pipelines, audience services, orchestration, and activation integrations.
  • Define the product vision and a multi-year roadmap, ranking work by customer value, technical feasibility, business impact, risk, and platform health.
  • Set engineering standards for security, privacy, reliability, observability, scalability, and technical debt.
  • Run product discovery and UX research with marketing teams worldwide, turning user needs into intuitive workflows and measurable outcomes.
  • Assess build, buy, and partner options rigorously, and make sure third-party platforms fit into a coherent, maintainable architecture.
  • Lead measurement and experimentation, covering test design, measurement frameworks, platform capabilities, and how results feed marketing decisions.
  • Lead audience activation and marketing data teams responsible for identity, segmentation, consent-aware audience management, data quality, governance, and activation readiness.
  • Connect audience, measurement, and activation capabilities across marketing channels so teams can plan, act, learn, and optimize on shared data and platforms.
  • Work with Data Science and Analytics leaders to build experimentation, causal measurement, predictive models, and decision support into marketing workflows.
  • Assess and scale AI and automation use cases that raise marketer productivity, decision quality, and customer relevance.
  • Act as the technical and strategic partner to leaders in Media, Creative, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Marketing Operations, Data Science, and Business Analytics.
  • Bring SIE teams that own or shape the marketing technology stack into one architecture, product vision, roadmap, and set of investment priorities.
  • Lead high-priority transformation initiatives, managing execution, cross-team dependencies, adoption, and measurable business results.
  • Work with marketing leaders to redesign workflows, processes, decision rights, and operating models around new platform capabilities.
  • Balance global platform standards with local and product-level flexibility, without compromising security, privacy, or architectural integrity.
  • Define success measures and post-launch KPIs for platform performance, adoption, marketing effectiveness, and business impact.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, data engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 12+ years across software or data engineering, technical product management, and marketing technology, including leading global teams.
  • Hands-on software or data engineering experience and a track record of leading engineers who built and ran production marketing technology systems.
  • Proven experience building, launching, and running enterprise SaaS products or internal platforms, not only implementing or administering third-party tools.
  • Technical depth in cloud architecture, APIs, systems integration, data pipelines, identity and audience systems, security, privacy, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience leading mixed organizations that span engineering, product management, UX, measurement and experimentation, analytics or data science, and audience activation.
  • Strong command of experimentation methods, marketing measurement, and analytics, and of using data to sharpen product and marketing decisions.
  • Experience with AI-powered products, machine learning platforms, or automation running in production.
  • Experience owning multi-year technology and product roadmaps and making investment, architecture, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, explain technical tradeoffs clearly, and lead transformation across teams and regions.
