Description

You will join as Margin Java Tech Lead, a Senior Vice President role at grade C14, based in Jersey City or Tampa.

The Cross Asset Risk and Margin technology group builds and improves regulated systems that shape how the firm's capital markets business manages market and counterparty credit risk from trading.

The group calculates margin for over-the-counter bilateral derivatives and optimizes client margin by netting offsets across products, using VaR, SIMM and Credit Stress models. Its users include traders, salespeople, risk managers, financial controllers and operations staff.

This senior technical role leads application analysis, design and programming. You will manage a team across engineering work, including designing, sourcing and deploying hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology group.

  • Oversee software quality and system changes.
  • Coach mid-level developers and analysts and assign their work.
  • Examine current operations to find risks and duplication, then carry out assessments that lead to solutions.
  • Coordinate with team members and management so projects meet application development and governance standards.
  • Understand how business areas such as architecture and infrastructure work together to reach business goals.
  • Resolve high-impact problems by thoroughly evaluating complex business processes, system processes and industry standards.
  • Keep current with industry trends and developments.
  • Weigh risk in business decisions with the firm's reputation in mind, follow laws, rules and policy, use sound ethical judgment, and report and escalate control issues openly.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of relevant applications development experience, including hands-on coding.
  • Deep knowledge of OTC margining.
  • Understanding of risk sensitivities (Greeks) and risk models such as VaR and SIMM, and the ability to work with the quant team on integrating risk models.
  • Proven thought leadership in designing complex, distributed systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka and distributed caching or systems such as Apache Ignite.
  • Hands-on experience writing code with Copilot or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases such as Oracle.
  • Substantial exposure to microservices architecture.
  • API-first design and implementation using REST, WebSocket and gRPC.
  • Experience building applications on cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
