Description

The Product Design team starts from what users and customers need and turns that into product experiences they want to use. Designers on the team come from design systems, visual, interaction, content, and product design backgrounds. Design takes part in the work from the start, working alongside engineering and product management.

This role sits in Customer & Partner Experience, which designs the digital experiences customers and partners use to learn about, adopt, support, and get value from the company's solutions. The portals in scope include a developer portal, a university, a store, a partner portal, documentation, a best practices library, a universal profile, and a personal hub. The team's aim is customer value and success through AI-native, self-serve experiences.

The company's learning platform offers customers, partners, and employees on-demand courses, guided learning paths, and certifications to build product skills, speed up adoption, and get more value from the platform. This is a hands-on player/coach role: you manage people and lead several design programs for the learning platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a group of UX designers to build a collaborative, creative, high-output design culture.
  • Set goals, priorities, and expectations that match the product vision, company direction, and user needs.
  • Coach designers through every stage of the product lifecycle, from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and delivery, and push good UX practice.
  • Give regular feedback and coaching, and create career development paths that build both individual and team skills.
  • Make sure designers, product managers, engineers, and researchers work together to ship cohesive, user-centered solutions.
  • Work with product management and engineering on strategy, release planning, and product architecture, and carry roadmaps into day-to-day execution.
  • Oversee how the team uses design systems, keeping work consistent and scalable and contributing improvements to the system.
  • Help the team break complex problems into concrete design goals, and guide them through fast iterations and sound decisions.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and alignment across distributed design teams to raise impact and efficiency.
  • Present to executives and key stakeholders, explaining the UX vision, product strategy, and design reasoning clearly and persuasively.
  • Represent design in cross-functional leadership meetings and argue for user needs and experience quality.

Requirements

  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience managing people and/or leading design teams.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of experience in UX design and/or interaction design.
  • Preferred: experience bringing AI into work processes, supporting decisions, and using AI to solve problems.
  • Preferred: strong skills and experience in enterprise design.
  • Preferred: a portfolio of work samples that shows your work and approach.
  • Preferred: ability to understand complex problems and distill them into clean solutions.
  • Preferred: strong teamwork, communication, and technical problem-solving skills for working in multi-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Preferred: high initiative, a good sense of humor, and a 'make it work' ethos.
  • Basic: BA/BS degree or higher in design, design communication, human-computer interaction, or an equivalent mix of education and experience in a related field.
  • Basic: experience taking part in the complete product development lifecycle of web and/or software applications.
  • Basic: experience in user experience design or industry experience in corporate, software, web, or agency settings.
