Description

The company builds foundation AI models and end-to-end products for enterprises, with a focus on security. It is trained and deploys frontier models for businesses that are building their own AI systems.

The company is headquartered in Toronto and has offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. The team includes researchers, engineers, designers and others.

This role focuses on the modelling products. You will design clear experiences for complex workflows, sitting where new technology meets what users need.

You will work closely with product managers, engineers and the ML team. You will own the design process end-to-end and be a key stakeholder in prioritization and strategy decisions.

Your work will shape how models are trained and deployed, and it will affect people's daily work directly.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design process end-to-end for your product area, looking for ways to improve the user experience and increase product impact.
  • Design user-friendly experiences that make technical complexity manageable without sacrificing accessibility or ease of use.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers and stakeholders at every stage of product development.
  • Run user research to understand needs and test design decisions, then turn the findings into concrete design improvements.
  • Hold a high bar for craft, making sure every detail adds to a cohesive, polished experience.
  • Help build design systems and patterns that scale across the North platform.
  • Work with engineering to implement designs faithfully, making pragmatic tradeoffs when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience designing digital products, with a portfolio that shows your process, systems thinking and measurable effect on user outcomes.
  • A solid grasp of AI concepts and agentic systems, including how models reason, use tools and run multi-step workflows. You keep up with AI trends and can design interactions that make agentic behaviour clear and controllable.
  • A collaborative approach, working with product managers to find opportunities, with engineers to handle technical constraints and review builds, and with stakeholders to agree on solutions.
  • A deep commitment to understanding users through research, data and direct contact. You lead research, turn findings into design decisions and stay informed on industry trends.
  • Meticulous attention to craft and detail. You are proficient in Figma, build scalable patterns and systems, and raise the quality of everything you work on.
  • Clear, proactive communication that keeps distributed teams aligned. You document decisions, explain design rationale to varied audiences and build shared understanding across locations and disciplines.
  • Bonus: strong visual design skills in typography, layout, colour and composition.

Conditions

Remote-friendly, with offices in Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul, and more opening soon.

Those in an office get a daily lunch program, snacks and regular community and social events. Those not near an office get a co-working benefit in their city.

The company encourages applications even if you do not match every item above.

The company welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and is committed to equal opportunity. Accommodation requests during recruitment can be made through the company's accommodations request form.

AI-enabled tools may be used to screen applicants against the criteria for this role. Recruiters still review any application they choose.

Benefits

  • A weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or the equivalent in your local currency.
  • Full health and dental coverage, with a separate mental health budget.
  • RRSP matching, 401K and a pension scheme.
  • 100% parental leave top-up for up to 6 months, for either parent.
  • Annual enrichment benefits covering arts and culture, fitness and wellness, quality time, and a workspace improvement credit.
  • An education and learning stipend for conferences, courses and coaching.
  • 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days).
  • A travel budget to visit other offices if you are remote, plus an annual company offsite.
  • A $500 home office stipend to set up your workspace.
