Linux Infrastructure / Systems Administrator

Description

The role supports the Carderock site of NSWC by keeping its Linux infrastructure running and in good order.

The work applies current technology to keep the customer's mission ready.

The team is the one that handles this infrastructure, and this role is a full-time, regular position.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure Linux servers.
• Write and maintain custom kickstart images.
• Manage patching across the full life cycle using the Satellite server.
• Support application deployments and enterprise automation across AAP, Satellite, IDM and Splunk.
• Harden systems, remediate STIG findings and maintain compliance with RMF and DISA STIGs.
• Investigate complex outages to find root causes.
• Perform forensics and correlate logs.
• Troubleshoot issues at the kernel level.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes containers.
• Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines.
• Write and keep architecture documentation current.
• Engineer storage on SAN and NAS, including multipathing.
• Design infrastructure and harden it.
• Design high availability and clustering solutions.
• Work with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization.

Requirements

• Hold a Top Secret clearance, which is required to start.
• Hold a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• Have 8+ years of Linux administration experience.
• Script and troubleshoot at an advanced level in Ansible playbooks, bash and python.
• Understand networking fundamentals, including routing, firewalls and DNS.
• Be highly proficient on the command line.
• Desired: 3+ years of experience with Ansible.
• Desired: advanced scripting in Perl.

Conditions

This is a full-time, regular position with no travel required.

Final salary depends on factors such as location, federal labor categories and contract wage rates, prior experience, specific skills, education and certifications.

The proposed salary range is $86,600 - $181,800.
