Description

You will join the lean improvement team, which sits at the centre of the company's industrial transformation within the Industry Operations organisation in Amsterdam.

The team has more than 50 colleagues in the Amsterdam industry unit. They deliver complex high-tech systems on schedule and to full quality, and they keep working to raise customer satisfaction.

The team uses lean expertise to speed up learning and industrial change. Its members lead change by modelling good behaviour, working together, listening well and applying industrial know-how. Setbacks are treated as lessons for improvement rather than reasons to stop.

Responsibilities

  • Spend much of your time on the shop floor with operational managers and their teams, introducing lean to raise performance.
  • Adapt your approach to each shop floor situation, finding the most efficient way to implement lean for the operational teams while keeping customer satisfaction in focus.
  • Link your work to the industry strategy by running either single-point roll-outs or intensive lean projects.
  • Work alone as a consultant and hands-on implementer, or together with your colleagues in the lean team.

Requirements

  • Preferably hold an industrial-related bachelor's degree.
  • Have experience applying lean in an industrial setting.
  • Show drive to move things forward and commit to developing yourself continuously.
  • Be willing to learn and to work in a demanding environment.
  • Know the Toyota Production System well enough that people regularly ask you to advise as a lean consultant or subject matter expert.
  • Speak fluent Dutch and English.
  • Be open-minded and have a positive attitude.
  • Have hands-on experience with lean elements such as Kanban, Andon, Kaizen, VSM, visual shopfloor management, problem solving, continuous flow, pull systems, Heijunka, and stabilisation techniques such as 5S, TWI, SMED, TPM and visual controls, or similar.
  • Know related industrial standards in planning, logistics and ERP.
  • Have experience in project management.
  • Have led change processes, including managing stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly with both operators and management.
  • Don't mind getting your hands dirty, and bring a sense of fun to the team.

Conditions

The role is based in Amsterdam and involves a lot of time on the shop floor.

The company may ask you to take part in an assessment as part of the selection process.

Benefits

  • Work on challenging problems in a strong team within a high-tech, innovative setting, with room to take initiative and share good ideas.
  • Grow personally and professionally, for example in technical, commercial or international skills.
  • Collaborate internationally with colleagues from 68 countries.
  • Work in a modern, comfortable office that values flexibility and a healthy work-life balance.
  • Receive a good salary and a travel allowance, and tailor your employment terms, such as exchanging PTO for internet costs, joining the bicycle plan, using company fitness, or getting relocation costs covered.
  • Take 40 days of PTO per year.
