Description

The team is looking for someone who wants to grow their own career while helping colleagues do the same.

The company is hiring an experienced, adaptable software engineer for its Securities Finance and Collateral Management (SFCM) engineering team. The work is hands-on: you build and maintain high-performance financial systems, improve test automation, and lead technical work on large projects from design through delivery. You will work with engineering and QA, weighing reliability, security, performance and cost while helping the team find better answers to hard problems.

This is an existing, currently open position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical work across the software development life cycle, guiding implementation, design changes and the solving of difficult technical problems.
  • Design, build, document and maintain core components of the SFCM Platform, writing clean, efficient and reliable code within an agile team.
  • Review code and critical designs, mentor developers, and take part in discussions that lift engineering standards across the team.
  • Build and extend automated integration tests, advocate for test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD), and help deliver resilient software.
  • Assess architecture options, frameworks, infrastructure and third-party tools, and recommend technology by weighing scalability, security, performance, maintainability and cost against benefit.
  • Set coding standards, tooling guidance and secure development practices, and help meet enterprise and regulatory security requirements at every SDLC stage.
  • Turn business requirements into workable technical plans with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA teams, engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Record designs clearly, using diagrams, flowcharts and other suitable artifacts. Help manage technical risk, delivery timelines and budget.
  • Try new approaches and technologies, and use evidence to improve the platform and how it is developed.

Requirements

  • You are a self-starter with a growth mindset and a strong combination of the experience below.
  • 10+ years of professional software development, including technical leadership on large projects from start to finish.
  • Experience working in agile teams and collaborating well with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA teams and business stakeholders.
  • Skill in one or more of the following: Java 17/21 with Spring Boot or the Spring Framework; Oracle PL/SQL; JavaScript, TypeScript, React and CSS; REST API design and integration.
  • Deep knowledge of designing scalable, resilient and maintainable systems with microservices, event-driven design and layered architectures.
  • Experience with asynchronous publish-subscribe systems, Kafka message streaming and event sourcing.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, with Docker and Kubernetes containers, and with serverless computing.
  • Understanding of relational SQL and NoSQL databases, caching layers and data partitioning strategies.
  • Strong grasp of SOLID and domain-driven design (DDD) principles, along with established software design patterns.
  • Good judgment in software design and technology selection, with attention to performance, security, maintainability and cost.
  • Familiarity with testing and automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, JMeter and Cucumber.
  • Responsible, safe and productive use of AI and agentic development tools.
  • Additional skills: experience with C, C, or WPF.
  • Additional skills: a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Conditions

Salary range: CAD $110,000 to $160,000. Pay may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and location.

Occasional overtime on evenings or weekends may be required for support.

Interviews may be held virtually or in person, in a hybrid format. Recruiters will explain the process and answer your questions.
