Java Developer - Rates Technology

Description

The company is hiring an application developer for its Rates technology team to build new applications and revise existing ones. The work includes in-depth systems analysis and programming, with technology and business teams around the world, to produce dependable, efficient software.

You will work on the systems behind the company's Rates trading business. Most of your time will go to hands-on server-side development and shipping quality software.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Rates trading desks to understand their needs and where their workflows get stuck, then turn that into intuitive, efficient, user-focused server-side solutions.
• Design scalable server architecture, write high-quality code, and test thoroughly so the software meets the business specification.
• Help improve the software development lifecycle by refining methods, raising code quality standards, and adopting practices that make development more efficient and products more reliable.
• Take large, complex technology projects from concept through to deployment, using your hands-on development skills and technical depth.
• Act as third-line support for the production system, handling escalations that need deep technical analysis. Round-the-clock first and second-line support teams handle initial incident response.
• Review proposed technical solutions for new and existing projects to confirm they are robust, scalable, and match architectural standards.
• Understand how the business areas connect and operate toward strategic goals, so technology improves those processes.
• Look for innovation by tracking emerging trends and bringing suitable new technologies into the work to deliver top-tier software.
• Make sure essential development and operational procedures are followed closely.
• Weigh risk in business and technical decisions, with close attention to the company's reputation and the protection of the company, its clients, and its assets.
• Follow applicable laws, rules, regulations, and company policy, and use sound ethical judgment in all conduct.
• Escalate, manage, and report control issues openly and promptly.
• Model accountability and uphold essential standards.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional development experience, with most of it spent building sophisticated enterprise applications.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java, SpringBoot, Quarkus, and reactive programming.
• Proven experience building high-throughput, low-latency systems, including microservices and APIs.
• Extensive practical experience with back-end and middleware technologies, especially Kafka, Solace, and MongoDB.
• Demonstrable experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Tekton, plus container orchestration on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Prior experience in a desk-facing role in financial services where work moves quickly.
• Exposure to and appreciation for software quality practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and application performance profiling.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and a genuine drive to learn the complex mathematics behind financial derivatives.
• Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication, applied consistently.
• Close attention to detail, strong self-motivation, and a steady willingness to learn and adapt.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: prior knowledge of Rates Derivatives, which would be a significant advantage.

Conditions

Full-time position.

Salary range: $94,300.00 - $141,500.00.
