Lead Software Engineer - Scotland

The company is a global professional services firm. Its Software & Platform Engineering team has over 1,000 people and builds end-to-end product engineering solutions, moving clients from project to product quickly.

The team works with clients in every sector, from scale-ups to large blue-chip companies and public sector bodies. Their products are used by millions of people.

This role is a Lead Software Engineer position based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The work involves new domains and technology stacks that change from client to client, and you will have plenty of chances to learn.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with clients to build digital products for them and their customers.
• Lead other engineers in doing the same hands-on delivery work.
• Act as a key advocate for efficient, low-complexity solutions that keep business value in view.
• Contribute to internal and regional engineering communities, sharing your knowledge and helping shape discussions on technologies you care about.
• Learn from colleagues working on a wide range of problem areas.

Requirements

• A few years of industry experience in at least one of Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, C, React, Angular, Vue or Svelte.
• Experience with cloud native technologies on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK or Pulumi.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI or ArgoCD.
• Strong coding skills in accessibility, security, performance and caching.
• Proven experience leading a team and developing the careers of its members.

Conditions

Based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, and willing to travel on an ad hoc basis to client sites across the UK.

Flexibility and mobility are required, including time spent onsite with clients and partners.

Salary is competitive and depends on experience.

Any offer is subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC security clearance, which requires 5 years of continuous UK address history (typically with no periods of 30 consecutive days or more spent outside the UK) at the point of application.

The clearance requirement relates to a specific client requirement.
