Description

The company is the leading on-demand marketplace in the US for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $750M in bookings. It is widening into a one-stop shop for home services across three brands on one shared platform.

The company's goal is at least one job per household every year. Reaching it means growing customers and Pros together, delivering strong service to both, and running with AI so it can move faster than its size suggests.

The AI agents team builds conversational AI and agentic experiences for homeowners and Pros. Beyond answering questions, the AI can skip, reschedule, or book a service during a conversation, including when a customer's own AI agent is the one communicating. The work also extends into the workflows people already use, so the product acts for them wherever they are. This role defines what that looks like for both sides and ships it.

This is the company's first core AI product manager role. You'll be an individual contributor with Lead-level scope, reporting to the Sr. Director of Product. The AI experiences often sit inside areas other PMs own, so you'll align goals with the Customer Experience lead, the First Service Experience lead, and the Pro Experience PM, and work with engineering, applied science, design, data, customer service, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the conversational AI and agent experiences for homeowners and Pros: the chat itself, the actions it performs, the point where it hands off to a person, and how outside AI agents connect with the company.
  • Bring agentic experiences into current consumer and Pro workflows so the AI completes actions inside the product, not beside it.
  • Set the AI roadmap for consumers and Pros, including what comes next and the order to build it in.
  • Shape the customer AI chat so it answers homeowners' questions and completes tasks such as skipping or rescheduling a service.
  • Shape the AI chat that Pros use inside the Pros App.
  • Define how homeowners and Pros message each other.
  • Decide when the bot passes a conversation to a support agent, and make sure the agent receives full context.
  • Decide how outside AI agents, such as ChatGPT or Claude, can act for a customer on the company's platform.
  • Set the evals and guardrails, and define the bar for shipping AI experiences.
  • Anticipate the second- and third-order effects of each change, since a change for one side of the marketplace often affects the other side, pricing, and operations.
  • Turn the AI's role from answering questions into solving problems: understand what the customer or Pro needs, recommend the right action, and carry it out.
  • Decide which actions the AI takes on its own, which need confirmation, and how to recover when it gets one wrong.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of product management experience, including at least 3 years launching AI products to customers, internal or external.
  • Have shipped AI products to real end users in B2C, B2B, or B2B2C settings, including at least one chatbot or conversational AI running in production. You read transcripts to find where conversations break down.
  • Write evals yourself, know when an AI experience is ready to ship, and notice when its quality starts to decline.
  • Understand how an agent changes once it calls actions on live systems rather than only producing text, and design for the failures that follow.
  • Set priorities using data, say no with clear reasons, and support each decision with evidence.
  • Think in systems: map the effects of a change across the marketplace before shipping, and plan for them in the spec.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in business, analytics, engineering, design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, plus at least 6 years of product management on consumer-facing products.
  • This role is not people management, with no direct reports.
  • This role is not a research or ML-platform seat. Work that never reached end users does not fit.
  • This role is not for people who see AI as an add-on rather than the core product.
  • This role is not strategy-only. You'll write evals and read transcripts directly.
  • You'll build the evals, guardrails, and launch-readiness standards yourself. The company is lean and frugal and runs on a partly legacy stack, so these do not already exist.
  • The safety bar is high, since AI that reschedules or skips services fails in front of customers and Pros. Much of the work depends on influencing other teams, not directing them.
