Description

The Sensors Division at the company builds technology for advanced sensor systems, including airborne and surface radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing.

The division's work covers full system prototypes, experiment campaigns, and component development across RF analog and digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing, machine learning, tracking and fusion, and real-time embedded processing.

The Real-time Architectures, Integration and Demonstration (RAID) Group takes algorithms from concept to real-time software, brings open architecture expertise, and helps integrate capabilities for experiments, testing, and deployment.

The group needs a lead systems engineer with proven Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills. You will help design, build, test, and maintain real-time software that controls complex hardware and follows open architecture standards.

You will join focused teams that turn internal software into production-quality code that outside integrators can run on their embedded and distributed platforms. You will also set best practices and automate processes that bring MBSE into Agile software development.

Strong candidates have worked on teams that built large, high-performance C/C++ software for sensor systems and understand how MBSE fits with real-time Agile development. Experience with open architecture frameworks is a strong plus. Clear technical, interpersonal, and communication skills are needed to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with principal investigators, software engineers, and other systems engineers to plan, model, build, test, and document large software and hardware systems.
• Connect MBSE artifacts to software pipelines, such as code and test generation and large-scale code analysis.
• Help engineers adopt MBSE processes that make software development more efficient.
• Extract, manage, and analyze requirements for RF sensor signal processing or similar systems.
• Write or support documentation of system designs, software designs, APIs, implementation details, and technical reports.
• Run peer reviews and recommend next steps for technical work.
• Travel about 5% of the time for integration events, customer meetings, and field demonstrations.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and keep a Secret or Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. government for this clearance.
• A PhD plus 2 years, an MS plus 5 years, or a BS plus 7 years in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering to medium and large Agile software programs.
• Strong working knowledge of CAMEO or other MBSE tools.
• Experience working on professional software development teams.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Preferred:
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance, strongly preferred because clearance processing takes time.
• Experience building products or toolkits that third parties integrate with various hardware and software subsystems.
• Skill in automating integration of CAMEO or other MBSE tools with Agile development.
• Experience working with signal processing teams.
• Experience with open architecture standards and frameworks.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
• Experience developing CAMEO plugins.
• Understanding of RF sensor system concepts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps, and with integrating MBSE into them.
• Prior contributions to proposal development and technical writing.

Conditions

Full-time salary range: $174,000.00 to $225,000.00.

The range is based on external market data. Final offers depend on factors such as experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and current market and business conditions.
