Description

The Sensors Division works on radar, space-based sensing, electronic warfare and underwater acoustics. Inside the Space Missions and Sensing Sector, the work centres on space sensing, space control and counter-sensing for national security missions.

This role leads the design, build and running of integrated simulation testbeds for space and defense systems. You will analyse how integrated systems perform, write and run test plans, and set the criteria used to judge a system. You will work with research and software teams to bring simulation and analysis tools together, and with customers to pin down their main problems and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Build and use advanced models and simulation frameworks to test and evaluate algorithms, command and control systems and software that is already deployed.
  • Talk with customers to learn what they need and what the requirements are, and explain technical results to them.
  • Lead mixed teams and technical leads to grasp system-level requirements and overall goals. Summarise progress, report findings and give assessments.
  • Lead business development work and proposal writing, and help decide which technical solutions get proposed.

Requirements

  • You must be able to get and keep a Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government for this.
  • Degree and experience: a BS with 8 years, an MS with 6 years, or a PhD with 2 years, or equivalent experience, in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics or a related technical field.
  • Experience with space defense programs and their modeling, plus sensor systems, platforms and ground systems.
  • Experience in at least two of these areas: RF and radar signal processing, optimisation, waveform design, electronic warfare, machine learning, adaptive signal processing, AI/ML for optimisation, modelling and simulation, systems engineering, test engineering, radar modelling, optics modelling, orbital mechanics, and space systems (propulsion, thermal, communications, GNC).
  • Experience giving technical briefings to subcontractors, senior executives and customers.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scientific or mathematical programming language, such as MATLAB, Python or C/C++.
  • A researcher and team member who works well with mission partners to turn advanced technology and research into near-term results.
  • Clear communicator who can brief both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong skills in mathematics, troubleshooting, writing and speaking.

Conditions

Full-time position with a salary range of $174,000 to $225,000. The range is based on external market data. Actual offers depend on experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and current market and business conditions.
