Description

Generator failures affect far more than one plant. They reach grids, communities, and people who rely on steady power. This role is the technical lead that customers and global teams call on when problems are most urgent. The company needs someone with deep generator and electrical systems knowledge, steady judgment under pressure, and the drive to trace a problem to its root cause and fix it permanently.

The role suits someone who wants to own difficult problems from start to finish, develop the people around them, and represent the company's technical standards to customers and industry peers.

What you bring: a technical background with hands-on generator experience, a record of solving complex problems in customer-facing settings, and the ability to explain technical detail clearly to any audience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations from first fault identification through corrective and preventive action (CAPA), resolving complex generator and electrical faults that affect many units across a fleet.
  • Act as the technical authority for generator and electrical system designs, confirming components meet customer and engineering requirements and coordinating with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and design engineering.
  • Represent the company's technical expertise on customer sites, during outages, at industry conferences and user groups, and in technical input to commercial teams for proposals and bids.
  • Write and publish technical communications, including Technical Information Letters (TILs), Product Service Safety Bulletins (PSSBs), Product Service Information Bulletins (PSIBs), and safety alerts that keep customers informed and equipment safe to run.
  • Support service fulfillment and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, and report progress to audiences from plant operators up to executive leadership.
  • Mentor and develop a team of generator and electrical systems product service engineers, sharing knowledge and growing skills across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in engineering or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: a formal degree, though your total experience and professional achievements are weighed most heavily.
  • At least 5 years of experience in generator engineering and technology.
  • Hands-on experience with generator systems and a track record of solving complex problems with customers.
  • Clear communication skills, in both speech and writing, with English fluency.
  • Preferred: a master's degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, or systems engineering, or an M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration).
  • Preferred: Six Sigma or Lean training or certification.
  • Preferred: prior experience in a customer-facing or commercial support role, including anticipating customer needs and turning them into technical action.
  • Preferred: proven project management skills, including running several workstreams at once and driving cross-functional work to completion.
