Lead Customer Engineer

Description

The company makes materials science and engineering solutions used in nearly every new semiconductor chip and advanced display worldwide.

Its equipment is central to AI development and to bringing next-generation chips to market.

You would be the main point of contact for customers on the equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, service and upgrade customer equipment.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostics to find and fix technical faults.
• Solve complex equipment problems using your troubleshooting skills and the company's diagnostic tools and documentation.
• Work from documented procedures and published task plans, and write new procedures where needed.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, and lead projects when necessary.
• Coach and train junior Field Service Engineers [Customer Engineers].
• Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree.
• 7-10 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude across pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and/or thermodynamics.
• Strong hand tool skills, including the correct use of digital multimeters.
• Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters.
• Clear written and spoken communication.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• A valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a passport if travel is required.
• Able to follow on-site rules on safety, environmental guidelines and COVID-19 protocols.
• Preferred: project management skills and the ability to lead key customer and internal product meetings.
• The job often involves extensive walking, standing for long stretches, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at height.
• Lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish colours and work with electricity.
• Ability to work in noise that may be hard for some people who are sensitive to it.
• Use of hand and power tools.
• Clean room work requires personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.

Conditions

Full time, regular assignee position.

Based in Graz, Austria.

Travel: 25% of the time.

Relocation eligible.

Salary range: €70,400.00 to €96,800.00, based on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity with current team members.

For sales roles, the posted range is the Target Total Cash range, the sum of base salary and target bonus at 100% goal achievement.
