The team works on Java-based software that runs on Linux, with secure communication, certificates and user activity monitoring.

Requirements

• Deep command of Core Java, without Spring Boot.
• Solid grasp of JVM, JRE and JDK concepts, and comfort in Eclipse IDE v2026 with Java 17 or later.
• Skilled in JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, JSP, HTML5 and CSS for front-end and web work.
• Hands-on with Apache Tomcat 11 or later, Tomcat connectors and Apache HTTP Server (HTTPD).
• Experience with MariaDB (MySQL) v10 or newer, JDBC, the DAO pattern, and connection pooling built without a framework.
• Working knowledge of JSON/XML over HTTP and HTTPS, REST APIs, SSH, PKI, OpenSSL, Putty, Linux and LDAP.
• Strong in LDAP authentication, authorization and custom LDAP solutions.
• Practical SSH and Putty work, including custom SSH tools on Linux.
• Linux system administration and command-line skills.
• Built Java REST APIs that make secure calls with application certificates and scale for user activity monitoring.
• Built servlets with the Jakarta Servlet API, covering lifecycle, request and response handling, and session management.
• Used the Java Base64 API and understand what it does and where it falls short.
• Familiar with the Java Cryptography Architecture (JCA) APIs and with AES, RSA and ECC encryption in Java.
• Used the Quartz Job Scheduling Library in Core Java projects.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control.
• Understand PKI for secure data transmission and have built custom PKI tools.
• Handle X.509 certificates, including parsing, validation and chaining.
• Generate, manage and store key pairs with OpenSSL and RSA, and troubleshoot key pair and certificate problems.
• Analytical problem solver with a sharp eye for detail, able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Turn user needs into technical requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
• Take initiative and propose new products and interface improvements.
• Desired: some experience integrating Python into web applications.
• Desired: some experience writing Confluence plugins.
• Desired: familiar with Windows Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) for issuing and managing PKI certificates.
