Java Software Engineer Level 2 or 3 (AHT)

The team builds software for the space systems sector and is part of a larger department of about 200 engineers in several disciplines, from entry level to chief engineers and architects, with room to move into senior technical or leadership roles.

The department also works with systems engineering, integration, test and hardware engineering staff, and runs shared training and inclusion events such as lunch-and-learns, campus events and leadership mixers.

You will join an Agile team that supports two programs on one shared baseline, working in the office on 2-week sprints with deliveries every 3 months.

Your work will center on designing, developing and maintaining Java applications that meet business requirements and perform well at scale.

The role is offered at level 2 or level 3, based in Aurora, CO. Travel is 10% of the time. A Top Secret clearance is needed before you start.

Requirements

• Level 2: a bachelor's degree in science with 2+ years of software development experience, or 0+ years with a master's, or 4 additional years of experience in place of a degree.
• Level 3: a bachelor's degree in science with 5+ years of software development experience, or 3+ years with a master's, or 4 additional years of experience in place of a degree.
• An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time you apply.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• A thorough understanding of the Java programming language.
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
• A proven record working with Agile processes.
• Experience integrating with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• A solid grasp of the software development lifecycle.
• Preferred: CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Preferred: experience with Linux.
• Preferred: experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Preferred: understanding of peer review processes and feature iterations.

Conditions

The role is based in the office in Aurora, CO, and travel is 10% of the time.

The role requires a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, which must be active when you apply.

The base salary range for the primary level is $91,800.00 to $137,600.00, and for the secondary level it is $114,000.00 to $171,000.00. Final pay depends on scope of the role, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
