Description

The company's space systems group in Aurora, CO is hiring a seasoned software systems integrator at Level 3 or Level 4. The role sits on a cross-functional agile team and centres on Kubernetes-based services, configuration-management records, end-to-end integration and validation, and automated regression testing.

The job may be filled at either level, and the level is set by your qualifications.

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is needed to start, and relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes-based services.
  • Confirm exactly which code, configuration and tools make up each official baseline, and make sure every baseline can be rebuilt and traced through version tags, branches and build scripts.
  • Control changes to the baseline so only approved changes get in, after proper review.
  • Take software from several teams and deploy it as one working build across multiple environments.
  • Resolve integration conflicts and work with developers to fix problems and pin down interface requirements.
  • Work with the configuration-management team so each baseline is tagged, documented and archived, and linked to requirements, change requests and defect records.
  • Keep traceability current, showing which features and fixes are in each baseline and when they were added.
  • Provide stable, well-defined builds to support integration and regression testing, and check that each integrated baseline has the right configuration, data and environment.
  • Help sort defects found in integrated builds by whether the cause is integration, environment or code.
  • Spot integration risks such as late deliveries, unstable components and interface changes, settle competing priorities when several teams need changes in the same baseline, and plan the order of integration based on dependencies.
  • Take part in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and backlog grooming.
  • Create and maintain configuration-management documentation.
  • Carry out end-to-end system integration and validation, and automate regression testing.

Requirements

  • Comfortable troubleshooting in Linux and debugging services.
  • Proficient with Git, Linux and shell scripting, with a basic understanding of Java.
  • Understanding of basic Docker concepts and Kubernetes services, with the ability to debug from the command line and/or Rancher.
  • Experience with the Atlassian tools Confluence and Jira.
  • Experience writing test procedures and running functional and check-out tests.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance at the time you apply.
  • Sec+ certification or equivalent before your start date.
  • Level 3: a bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, a master's degree with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year. An extra 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Level 4: a bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, a master's degree with 6 years, or a PhD with 4 years. An extra 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Preferred: certifications such as CKA, CKAD or CNCF Certified Helm.
  • Preferred: willingness to take and pass a polygraph.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience deploying services with Helm or Helmfile.
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions, running Helm or Helmfile pipelines.
  • Preferred: experience integrating and testing ground station systems, including antenna and RF knowledge.
  • Preferred: deep knowledge of Kubernetes best practices, security hardening and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Loki.
  • Preferred: hands-on work with AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Preferred: experience with data collection and instrumentation methods.
  • Preferred: good customer interaction and presentation skills.
  • Preferred: experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small project teams.
