Description

The company is building connected, intelligent, and increasingly autonomous vehicles and services, and this internship places you on an engineering team working on that software.

You will learn from experienced engineers in a collaborative, high-performance setting, with hands-on work on software that shapes future mobility.

The role suits students who want to strengthen their technical skills, tackle practical problems, and see how modern software engineering is changing the automotive industry.

The company's engineering, technology, and design teams work on vehicles and services that change how people get around the world.

You may work on applications for connected vehicles, cloud platforms, enterprise services, data processing, or other technology projects across the company.

As a Java Software Engineer Intern, you will help design, build, test, and maintain software applications and services, working with engineers to turn requirements into dependable, scalable solutions and seeing the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve software applications in Java using object-oriented principles.
  • Design, implement, and test RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Work with software engineers, architects, product managers, and business partners to clarify requirements and deliver working solutions.
  • Write code that is clean, readable, maintainable, and well documented.
  • Take part in code reviews and act on feedback to raise software quality.
  • Investigate defects and technical issues, and help with root-cause analysis.
  • Write unit and integration tests that confirm applications work reliably.
  • Work with databases, data models, and SQL queries as part of application development.
  • Use Git and modern CI/CD practices to help ship software efficiently.
  • Join Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and sprint planning.
  • Learn and apply secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
  • Record technical decisions, solutions, and implementation details in documentation.
  • Find ways to simplify processes and reduce manual work.

Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • You have programmed in Java through coursework, projects, internships, or personal work.
  • You understand object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design basics.
  • You are familiar with relational databases and basic SQL.
  • You know standard software development practices, debugging, and testing.
  • You are familiar with Git or another version-control system.
  • You are interested in backend services, APIs, cloud applications, or enterprise software.
  • You break complex problems into manageable steps and analyse issues well.
  • You learn quickly, ask good questions, and take ownership of your assigned work.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and in conversation and work well with others.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role. You are expected to be in the assigned company office at least three days per week, or more when business needs require it.

The company's vision is a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.

The company asks every employee to help drive meaningful change and to feel part of one team.

The company is committed to a workplace free of unlawful discrimination that actively fosters inclusion and belonging.

Candidates may be asked to complete a role-related assessment and/or a pre-employment screening before starting, where applicable.

Benefits

  • The internship offers a chance to build your professional network, learn from experienced engineers, work on meaningful projects, and see how your skills can shape transportation.
  • Join the company and help build the technology that moves the world forward.
