The company develops high-fidelity threat models for the Missile Defense Agency and its Ballistic Missile Defense System under the Threat and Advanced Simulations Development contract.
The Threat Systems Engineering group builds the models and simulations that stimulate element models of that system, including kinematic missile modeling, IR signature modeling, data production and analysis, and sustainment of the full TSE software baseline.
The Multi-Domain Operations and Missile Defense Integration business unit within the company's Space Systems group is hiring a Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer, Level 2, focused on IR plume modeling and simulation.
The role is based on-site at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
Responsibilities
Handle large, multi-dimensional array datasets.
Check simulated data against measured test or flight data.
Verify and validate large technical datasets with close attention to detail.
Isolate variables to decide whether a simulation failure comes from bad input data, software bugs, or configuration problems.
Read, parse and fix undocumented in-house tools and legacy scripts in Python, MATLAB or C++ without outside help or documentation.
Read log files, console output and stack traces to find why a simulation run or data conversion tool crashed.
Catch silent failures, where a tool finishes but produces physically or mathematically wrong data.
Prioritise tasks and work to schedules and timelines.
Collaborate with team members at all levels on varied, challenging assignments.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline preferred with 2 years of technical experience, or 0-2 years of experience with a Master's degree.
