The platform is used by banks, asset managers, corporations and utilities worldwide, and is supported by about 3,400 staff from more than 65 nationalities across 19 offices.

The software engineering team builds and maintains the technology behind the MX.3 platform.

Java engineers work on core technical components and services, covering application development, distributed systems, performance, data processing, software architecture, observability, continuous integration and developer tooling.

As an intern you join a community of experienced engineers and work on a real technical project, gaining hands-on experience with the architecture and development of a large financial software platform.

Assignments are built around a genuine technical challenge within capital markets technology.

Topics you could take on include logical query plan validation and optimization, Java service performance, workflow and business-process tools, real-time application monitoring, backend services and REST APIs, cluster management and leader election evaluation, CI/CD modernization, software architecture and developer experience, and quality and maintainability improvements.

Responsibilities

• Begin with an onboarding program on software engineering practices and the MX.3 platform, then contribute to a project with direct technical impact.
• Design, build and test Java software components and services.
• Analyze existing code, execution flows and technical architectures.
• Improve the performance, robustness, reliability and maintainability of current solutions.
• Help build data-processing, workflow or real-time applications.
• Work on distributed systems, service orchestration and platform components.
• Improve monitoring, diagnostics and operational tooling.
• Contribute to testing, continuous integration and deployment practices.
• Explore how AI and machine learning can support software engineering tasks.
• Work closely with software engineers, architects and product experts.
• Write up your approach and present your findings and solutions to technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• You are in the final year of an engineering school or hold an equivalent Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
• You program well in Java and are keen on complex software systems.
• You understand object-oriented programming principles well.
• You are interested in software architecture, distributed systems, performance, data processing, observability or continuous integration.
• You are curious and analytical, and want to understand how software components interact.
• You solve problems effectively.
• You work well in a team and take initiative and ownership of your tasks.
• You communicate and document clearly.
• You speak English fluently. This is required.

Conditions
