Description

You will join the Habitat Care design team as an Innovation Designer, a hands-on role focused on new products.

Habitat Care is the newest category and business in the company's Fabric, Home and Habitat Care group. It brings together brands that help people look after their homes, and it builds on earlier ventures in pest prevention and outdoor care.

The team is extending into new categories with safe, effective products for families and pets. It pairs the resources of a large company with the pace of a startup to build and grow brands that address needs consumers still lack good solutions for.

Design is central to the work here. You will collaborate with other designers and cross-functional teams to turn ideas into strong design solutions, so a solid grounding in design fundamentals and good teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Turn consumer insight, market openings, business goals and emerging trends into design strategies and product experiences you can act on.
  • Lead design workstreams and shape multidisciplinary teams so they tackle hard business problems and deliver better consumer solutions.
  • Work with internal teams and outside design partners to explore, develop and refine innovation opportunities.
  • Use a deep understanding of consumers to create products and experiences that meet unmet needs and support business growth.
  • Apply expert industrial design skills, including sketching, CAD and rendering.
  • Move smoothly from concept to CAD to prototype.
  • Lead hands-on exploration and prototyping with methods such as 3D printing, fabrication, model making and fast iteration.
  • Work closely with R&D, product supply, manufacturing and external suppliers to develop and refine working prototypes.
  • Run quick experiments and learning cycles to speed up innovation and lower development risk.
  • Turn concepts into solutions that can be manufactured without losing a strong consumer experience.

Requirements

  • Have 1-3 years of full-time industrial design work experience.
  • Hold a BA or BS in industrial design or a similar field.
  • Bring a portfolio that shows industrial design mastery: technical skill, creative excellence, design thinking, storytelling, problem solving, rapid iteration, aesthetics, form development and ergonomics.
  • Show a deep grasp of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate well and lead across functions and levels, including senior leaders, and set out a clear strategic design vision others can follow.
  • Find new and better ways to get results and improve processes so excellence repeats. Use AI-enabled tools to generate ideas, prototypes and quick design iterations.
  • Stay curious and resilient, learn from wins and setbacks, and take feedback and coaching well.
  • Lead several high-complexity projects at once, with close attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Required skills: sketching; CAD modeling including parametric solids, surfacing and advanced patterning in SolidWorks, Fusion and Rhino; product rendering; Adobe Suite such as Illustrator and Photoshop; design research and research data analysis; product photography; controllable AI image generation with Adobe Firefly, ComfyUI or Vizcom; fabrication including SLA and FDM 3D printing and basic shop tools.
