Description

The role is Senior UI Artist on For Honor at the company Montréal studio. You will help create and modernize the interfaces that guide players through the game, including menus, the heads-up display and the various game systems. You will work with the user experience, art direction, interface programming and design teams.

For Honor has been in development for more than ten years. You will help ship new features and content and improve existing interfaces. You will also join selected user experience work, such as exploring solutions and building player flows, wireframes and prototypes that make the experience simpler.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce interface screens and visual assets for menus, the heads-up display, game systems and features
  • Translate design intent and player needs into interface solutions that are clear, intuitive and consistent
  • Build mockups, wireframes, prototypes and, when needed, animatics to explore and test ideas
  • Use typography, colour, composition, visual hierarchy and motion design to present information clearly
  • Work with the user experience team on player journeys, interactions, navigation and how information is organized
  • Simplify player flows, remove friction and improve clarity and consistency in existing interfaces
  • Maintain and extend the design system, reusable components and interface guidelines
  • Prepare and optimize interface assets in the game engine together with interface programmers and technical artists
  • Balance visual quality and user experience against technical limits, keeping accessibility, localization, platforms and resolutions in mind
  • Refine interfaces using feedback, playtests and user research, then help fix issues and share team practices

Requirements

  • Experience designing interfaces or doing graphic design, ideally for video games
  • Solid grasp of composition, typography, colour and visual hierarchy, with skill in tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Working proficiency in design, prototyping and animation tools such as Figma and After Effects
  • Ability to apply user experience principles, including usability, information architecture and user-centred design
  • Understanding of player journeys, interactions and needs that goes beyond the visual side of interfaces
  • Experience putting interfaces into a game engine and understanding the limits that come with working alongside technical teams
  • Ability to design for accessibility, localization and adaptability while systems keep changing in a live game
  • Strong communication and cross-discipline collaboration. Experience with game engines, 3D software, scripting languages or shaders is a plus
  • To apply, send a CV that highlights your relevant skills and experience
  • Include a portfolio of your interface and graphic design work and, where relevant, your user experience contributions
