Description

The company's Government practice designs, builds, and modernizes the systems public bodies rely on to serve residents, such as benefits and claims platforms, case management, data and analytics, and the digital services citizens and employers use directly.

The Customer Experience (CX) team is hiring a Senior Product Designer with a record of creating polished digital brand experiences that are intuitive, impactful, and accessible.

In this role you shape how users behave and strengthen the link between a brand and its customers by guiding the build of refined, engaging digital products and services. You work with project managers, user researchers, other designers, content strategists, and developers to take end-to-end experiences from concept to launch.

Most of the work is hands-on and client-facing, but you may also mentor and coach junior staff. Leadership skills help you deepen client relationships, grow accounts, develop future design leads, and expand the practice.

The firm is delivery-first. Consultants are employees, not subcontractors, and the company's reputation depends on programs that go live and stay live.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of personas, customer journey maps, wireframes, responsive visual designs, and interactive prototypes that follow interaction design and usability best practices.
  • Manage the project team, help junior creatives grow their skills, and raise the quality of client deliverables.
  • Present design concepts and their rationale to clients and internal teams, clearly and persuasively.
  • Build clean, concise presentations for clients and internal teams that explain why the designs work.
  • Give constructive, specific feedback on interactions, information architecture, content, layout, and how well the experience fits goals and brand.
  • Run competitive assessments, propose new alternatives, and track design and technology trends.
  • Help evolve CX methods, capabilities, approaches, and tools. Attend and lead CX meetings and training, and take part in professional development and industry events.
  • Apply user interface best practices across web, OS-native, and embedded apps. Make the case for accessible experiences and strong visual design to clients and colleagues.
  • Explore AI-powered design tools and workflows, keep up with emerging technology, and test new approaches that improve creativity, efficiency, and impact.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in a design consultancy or digital agency.
  • A 4-year degree in design, HCI, or a similar field is preferred.
  • You have a proven grasp of product strategy, heuristic analysis, information architecture, user research, user interface design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • You turn business goals and user needs into well-reasoned design solutions.
  • You bring strong creative insight and drive, taking projects from research through implementation with multidisciplinary teams and the client.
  • You weigh good ideas regardless of who they come from, present persuasively to clients, and lead with humility.
  • You handle enterprise-scale problems and motivate teams of researchers and designers to produce engaging, multi-channel digital solutions.
  • You lead well, consistently grow client work, and deliver high-quality results on your own in a fast-paced setting.
  • You manage several projects at once and deliver to scope and budget.
  • You have experience across human-centered design, including user and market research, product and experience strategy, information architecture, experience design, content strategy, and customer insight.
  • You communicate clearly in writing, speech, concepts, and visuals.
  • You design developer-ready visual assets and UI components in Figma. Expertise in file organization, consistent styles and naming, and advanced features such as auto layout, component libraries, variables, and design tokens is preferred.
  • You have used AI-powered prototyping tools such as Claude Code, Claude for Design, Lovable, UX Pilot, Figma Make, or similar to build production-minded prototypes that hand off cleanly to developers.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is a plus.
  • Familiarity with user research tools such as Optimal Workshop, User Testing, or SurveyMonkey is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Agile product development is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and inclusive design principles is a plus.
