Life at Intel: https://jobs.intel.com/en/life-at-intel

Intel's Foundry Automation (IFA) group is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our team.

In this role, you will lead the architecture, deployment, optimization, automation, and lifecycle management of enterprise Windows Server platforms, with, supporting engineering, manufacturing, cloud, virtualization, and application infrastructure environments. You will be responsible for delivering secure, highly available, and scalable infrastructure services while driving platform modernization initiatives across physical, virtual, and cloud-enabled environments.

This role is central to designing, implementing, maintaining, and scaling Microsoft-based infrastructure that supports Intel Foundry's critical manufacturing and engineering operations. While the environment is primarily Windows-focused, the role also provides operational support for Linux platforms, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), within hybrid infrastructure environments. You will collaborate closely with platform engineering, cloud, virtualization, network, security, storage, and software engineering teams to build reliable, automated, and highly available infrastructure services.

The ideal candidate combines strong Windows systems expertise with automation, infrastructure engineering, and operational excellence. Experience administering Linux systems is desirable, but deep knowledge of enterprise Windows technologies, identity services, security, and automation is the primary focus of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the lifecycle management of Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and future Windows Server platforms, including deployment, configuration, patching, hardening, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Design, implement, and support core Microsoft infrastructure services including:
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • DNS and DHCP
  • PKI and Certificate Services
  • IIS and .NET application hosting
  • Windows Failover Clustering
  • Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, and Bash to streamline infrastructure provisioning, compliance, patch management, monitoring, and operational workflows.
  • Implement and maintain Windows security controls, including vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, privileged access management, system hardening, and compliance requirements.
  • Support Windows-based workloads running on VMware, OpenShift Virtualization, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Provide operational administration and support for Linux systems, including RHEL deployment, patching, troubleshooting, security maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, perform performance tuning, troubleshoot complex operating system and platform issues, and drive root-cause analysis for production incidents.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, security, and platform engineering teams to deliver resilient enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, architecture standards, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • The Ideal Candidate Must Demonstrate:
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and enterprise Microsoft infrastructure environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, IIS, Windows authentication, and Microsoft security technologies.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience, with familiarity in Python and Bash.
  • Experience supporting highly available, large-scale Windows environments in virtualized and hybrid infrastructure deployments.
  • Working knowledge of Linux administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Knowledge of Windows security, patch management, system hardening, identity management, and compliance best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • This position requires regular onsite presence at our Chandler, Arizona facility.
