Systems/Principal Systems Engineer

Description

The team sits in the Engineering and Sciences organization of the company's Mission Systems business, which builds mission-enabling solutions for global security.

The role supports the U.S. Navy's EA-18G Growler Block I and Block II programs, focusing on software integration testing and systems engineering for the Airborne Electronic Attack subsystems.

The position can be filled at either the Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer level, with requirements listed for each.

A Secret clearance is required before start, and the position is contingent on receiving it. No relocation assistance is offered.

The application period is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, but it may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.

Responsibilities

• Test software by running integration, regression, and verification tests on an electronic warfare system.
• Write detailed test procedures that verify requirements at the subsystem level.
• Review system designs and help define subsystem requirements.
• Find software defects, investigate them, and propose technical fixes.
• Work on an Agile team and coordinate with the customer, other company sites, and other engineering disciplines.
• Take part in peer reviews, critical milestone reviews, and technical interchange meetings, contributing your analysis.

Requirements

• Systems Engineer: a BS in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an MS in a STEM field.
• Principal Systems Engineer: a BS in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an MS in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Both levels: experience developing embedded software tests and airborne electronic attack work.
• Both levels: experience with requirements management databases such as DOORS.
• Both levels: experience writing software test plans and leading testing activities.
• Both levels: familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
• Both levels: you are a U.S. citizen holding an active Secret clearance, and you can work onsite full time.
• Preferred: background in electronic warfare.
• Preferred: project management experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of U.S. Navy electronic warfare systems.
• Preferred: a proven record of leading in systems engineering.
• Preferred: strong communication skills, clearly demonstrated.

Conditions

Travel is required for about 10% of the time.

Work is performed at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Point Mugu and at the company's Camarillo, CA office.

The role requires onsite work full time.

No relocation assistance is available.

Benefits

• Primary level base salary ranges from $91,800.00 to $137,600.00; the Secondary level ranges from $114,000.00 to $171,000.00.
• Base pay is a guideline and depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
• Depending on the position, overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus may apply, and annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results.
• Vice President and Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
