Information Technology Project Manager, Senior (Platform Engineering Team Lead)

The company is growing fast and supports DoD and other intelligence agencies worldwide, building mission-critical national security systems.

This Senior IT Project Manager role leads the Platform Engineering team and oversees Tier 3 work for the DFAS CCE in the Indianapolis, IN area. It covers hybrid cloud infrastructure, server engineering and platform services across on-premises data centers and cloud, including Azure Government.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Tier 3 engineering across hybrid cloud environments, from on-premises VMware and Nutanix systems to FedRAMP-authorized Azure Government and AWS GovCloud services.
• Lead and supervise the infrastructure and cloud engineering staff who deliver Tier 3 support for the DFAS CCE.
• Oversee Windows and Linux server engineering, including virtualization, patching and STIG compliance.
• Plan and lead data center optimization to meet DoD needs for server virtualization and cloud migration.
• Design, document and deploy new hardware and software that improves DFAS infrastructure.
• Write and maintain architecture specifications, installation guides and troubleshooting procedures.
• Build infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, Ansible and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Help plan, test and document continuity of operations and disaster recovery.
• Manage technology refresh cycles and hardware and software lifecycle planning.
• Route every infrastructure change and project implementation through the CCB.
• Track emerging technologies and brief DFAS management each quarter.

Requirements

• At least 8 years managing enterprise IT infrastructure of similar size and scope.
• Proven Tier 3 engineering skill on Windows Server and Linux (RHEL).
• Experience with VMware vSphere and Nutanix virtualization platforms.
• Hands-on work with Azure Government or AWS GovCloud.
• Experience implementing and maintaining DISA STIGs and DoD security configurations.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Track record of leading technical teams in high-availability, mission-critical environments.
• Experience with change management processes and CCB coordination.
• Ability to support COOP exercises and emergency operations.
• BA or BS degree.
• Project+ or CAPM, plus Security+ (or equivalent per 802 A).
• Computing Environment (CE) certification, required for privileged access roles.
• Must obtain and maintain all mandatory DoD 8140 certifications.
• Preferred: Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or equivalent.
• Preferred: VMware VCP or an equivalent virtualization certification.
• Preferred: experience with Platform One DevSecOps or DoD container platforms.
• Preferred: ServiceNow platform integration experience.
• Preferred: experience supporting DFAS or DoD financial system infrastructure.

Conditions

Work on-site at a designated location in the Indianapolis, IN area.

An active Top Secret/SCI clearance and US citizenship are required to be considered.

Maintain your security clearance at the level required by the client or prime contractor, along with any certifications requested.
